Egg prices down nearly $2 nationwide, agriculture secretary announces

Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins on Tuesday announced the price of eggs in the United States has dropped nearly $2 in the wake of a pricing surge.

Egg prices have become a hot button issue for Americans who have become shocked by the skyrocketing cost of the household staple item. Prices were impacted by an outbreak of avian flu, which Trump blamed on former President Joe Biden.

Rollins explained, however, prices are returning to normal.

" A good piece of news we just got in the last day or two is that the average cost of eggs has now gone down $1.85 since we announced our plan about a week-and-a-half ago."

Rollins added March is a time of high demand for eggs with the approach of Easter. She added the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) now has a plan to “attack” the avian flu by funding projects to create a vaccine to protect chickens from avian flu outbreaks

7.90 today in central Florida. I’m glad they weren’t 9.90.

It may have something to do with DOJ opening investigations into anti-trust and unfair trade practices against a few dominant egg producers including the largest, Cal-Maine,

Rollins added March is a time of high demand for eggs with the approach of Easter.

In before the those who wail and gnash their teeth over a harmless children's custom like hunting for Easter eggs. How many of this did this as kids and wound up as hopeless pagans? It does not diminish the glory of Christ's Easter resurrection one whit.

Whenever we hid ours outside at the base of a tree, the kids would all get fire ant bites when they picked them up.

All the liberals that whined about it will say nothing - just move on to something else to scream about.

Which means the egg prices weren’t bothering them in the first place - it was just some mud to throw at Trump.

$6.59/doz at Aldi Des Moines area. That’s increased from a few weeks ago.

Given Iowa has 40+ million or so laying hens in a normal time, .99 to 1.99 was considered normal less than 18 months ago.

More to do with the chickens that have hatched since the reign of Jopedo being allowed to grow.
If the government doesn't kill 200 million hens next summer this egg chit won't happen again.

Well those chickens sure hatched and grew fast to cause prices to drop that much. I thought we’d have to wait at least 6-12 months before any change.

The reduction is at wholesale. It takes a bit to come down at the grocery store. They have to sell out what they have already purchased.

Yesterday the organic free range eggs I used to get were $7.09.

I get my farm fresh eggs for $5 delivered now. Better than any organic free range egg I’ve ever had.

However, my gas was $2.44 a gallon today. I’ll take it! I was shocked that a complete fill up was less than $28. I think that last happened when Trump was President previously.
