The Republican-led House voted Tuesday to pass a six-month funding bill that would prevent a government shutdown at the end of the week, overcoming fierce Democratic objections.
The vote was 217-213, with all Republicans but Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky supporting the continuing resolution. One Democrat, Rep. Jared Golden of Maine, voted for it.
The measure now heads to the Senate, where its fate is uncertain. Republicans control 53 seats, and Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., has made clear he’s firmly against it. That means at least eight Democratic senators would have to support the bill to cross the Senate’s 60-vote threshold and send it to President Donald Trump’s desk.
The government is set to run out of money late Friday night.

NO WAY the Senate will pass the current CR. HOWEVER, they will blame it on the Republicans, and Trump, as ALWAYS.
I must be missing something, NBC news seems to say is needs 60 votes to pass but as I recall budget resolutions cannot be filibustered.
Democrats opposing spending.
Pigs DO fly backward on rainy nights.
I believe you are correct.
By Senate, it’s in the RATS’ court. Those bass tards are going to need to shut down the government to continue on their “journey” to Jassmine Crockette’s “My Little Pony Toddler Playland.”
CR, not budget resolution.
Agreed—would like to be see more data on the “sixty vote” claim.
BTTT
Reconciliation bills cannot be filibustered. This may be considered a fresh new bill.
I’m sick of the silly 60 vote cloture crap. Stupid, archaic “rule”.
Majority vote should be enough.
With kid gloves, Golden could perhaps be brought over to the GOP. He’s won his district by narrow margins, with Trump repeatedly winning it as well. Was in the Marine Corps.
What about when Obamao and Bidet were ruling?
No not correct. This is a CR (continuing resolution). It provides spending for EVERYTHING. It will take 60 votes to block a filibuster just to vote on it.
As I recall before reconciliation budget bills first get voted on as a new bill and the Big Beautiful Bill currently in reconciliation did not go over the 60 vote threshold.
I know reconciliation for sure but I thought it was also budget bills.
This is NOT a “reconciliation “ bill
They need to enforce the filibuster, not just proclaim it. The way it is supposed to work is the get up and keep talking, if they stop the filibuster is over, make them actually do it!
If there is a sixty vote cloture rule to break a filibuster in this case, then Majority Leader Thune better make them hold the floor and speak for every minute the government is shut down. I want to see Bernie droning on for hours why his desire for power is more important than all the laid off government employees.
Doesn’t matter. That’s the thinking of losers planning on being in the minority.
Heard it for decades.
They shoved Obamacare going around cloture anyway. CJ Roberts helped them unconstitutionally.
So how did that 60 vote rule go then?
GOP gets a 1 seat Senate majority and Trent Lott power shared. Dems get a 1 seat majority and Tom Daschle got his way.
60 vote cloture was ignored.
