I wish Trump would read “The Art of the Deal.” He could learn a lot from that guy. 🤡
Kevin O’Leary got into this a bit...said tariffs are negotiating tools.
Exactly. They are effective when you “have the cards. Dopey Doug didn’t. We get 1% of our electricity from Canada and we could adapt to not having it. Could he adapt to not selling any steel or aluminum?
The Art of the Deal
*******************
I have a copy on my desk.
It would put them out of the car business.....
For Canada, it’s a stupid negotiating position because of the risks to it. Where is Ontario and Quebec going to sell the electricity, once they cut themselves off from the US?
bkmk
When you have leverage, use it.
Get a copy of The Art of War. It would make a good matched set.................
Just STFU Associated Press. You are no longer relevant.
The leader of the Conservative Party Pierre Poilievre IMO is totally misplaying this big time.
From what I’ve read, he’s playing along with all the tough talk of the liberals, instead he should be saying this is all a negotiating ploy by Trump, we need to negotiate and I’m the one to do it and lay out a plan to get the tariffs removed.
Folded like a cheap suit!
What a Hoser!
What a Coward!
I no longer buy the “uncertainty” angle.
The outcome appears certain - Trump would not be doing it if he could not win.
Stock Market, buy a clue.
“I wish Trump would read “The Art of the Deal.” He could learn a lot from that guy.”
These are not “deals”.
The thing about the people running a country ... they are all runned by government people, not businessmen.
“instead he should be saying this is all a negotiating ploy by Trump”
Trump is not negotiating with Canada.
The only thing Trump is negotiating is the Ukranian peace deal.
Which tariffs? Canada doesn’t want to get rid of theirs. Somebody who goes into negotiations saying the Canada’s own tariff are expendable isn’t likely to win votes.
Clearly the tariffs on Canada and Mexico are a form of negotiation, what was one of Trump’s main campaign pledges, closing the border, stop the flow of migrants and fentanyl.
He wants Canada and Mexico to step up and do more and his leverage is tariffs.
Canada is going to lose big time in a trade war with the USA, same with Mexico.
Yesterday I heard Victor Davis Hansen mention his plan, do something about the trade balance and lower some tariffs to get the USA and Canada trade balance closer to equal.
Actually, spend more on their own defense, do more to protect their norther territories above the artic circle where Russia and China are moving into.
So, Canada gets into a trade war with the US and their economy goes into a depression, going along with the Liberals is a losing strategy which is becoming obvious in the polls, 6 months ago it was a foregone conclusion Trudeau, and his party is out, now the conservative party is behind, whatever his strategy is, is failing.
