Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced a number of new initiatives to bolster defence in a speech in Warsaw, as European powers appear set to comply with U.S. President Donald Trump’s demands that the continent pay for its own protection rather than relying on America.
Speaking before the Sjem parliament, Prime Minister Tusk declared Friday: “Hope is no substitute for strategy. Hope is a beautiful feeling, but in politics, it is often adjacent to naivety or illusion… Today, Europe is beginning to understand that since the United States expects much greater outlays, determination and courage from us, it must be met.”

Tusk is an EU deep stater. Who else? Rutte, and now Germany’s Merz. Merz campaigns to stall immigration. Fat chance.
Is I read here there other day, “Give war a chance!”
These are governments at war, not people. They are trying to convince the people they need to go to war.
They ought to. See tagline.
US Military is a fine service institution, but we’ve been lied to too many times into war adventures.
The Military which shielded us from overt communist aggression by Soviets needs to be reduced and reformed for something post 20th century.
Time to bring 1/2 of the troops we have in Germany home....that would be like 10,000 soldiers.
Poland is already spending more on defense than any other country in NATO, including he USA.
Poland drew the geographical short straw—between Germany and Russia.
Yep. Poland needs to look out for their own interests. Who knows what will happen in the near future.
Winning.
A great place for vacation. And the Polish women are delectable... My Polish girlfriend....
As Eastern Europe was occupied by the Soviets I’d say they have every right to rearm themselves. It’s about time.
Lithuania is building anti-tank traps along its border and is withdrawing from treaties covering cluster munitions and anti-personnel mines.
Thank the Russians.
Poland has quietly developed the largest land army in Europe. Nobody is going to be invading Poland anytime soon.
“Good, FINNALY”
Tell me about it...about 90 years too late though.
Only 86 years too late.,
Poland needs to keep it’s head on a swivel
They’ve been marched through from both directions
Poland must defend against Russian aggression and guard its borders. Poland is reasserting itself as Russia’s chief European rival. Poland is the closest European state to Ukraine, and working with Belarusian opposition groups to Lukashenko. Expect things to get interesting as Russia weakens the longer the war continues.
Yep, they’re gonna.
Quickly, Tusk is an EU puppet. Does the EU have every right to arm themselves?
Tusks political opponents agree with him.
In this case read “the Poles”, they are pretty unified on this.
