Michael Mann, a leading climate scientist, previously won over $1 million from allegations that two columnists defamed him over his claims that humans worsened climate change, but the amount in damages previously awarded to him was significantly reduced Tuesday.
Mann, previously a professor at the Pennsylvania State University and now the inaugural “vice provost for climate science, policy, and action” at the University of Pennsylvania, created a “hockey stick” graph asserting that human activity led to global warming, according to a report from Reason. Snip.
Irving instead ruled that Steyn would have to face $5,000 in punitive damages rather than $1 million.

So sad. First, he was ordered to pay National Review $530K in legal fees, now he can't even use his award from Mark Steyn to cover to pay what he owes.

my experience with legal system is that typically it’s just the lawyers that win in the end.

“vice provost for climate science, policy, and action” at the University of Pennsylvania...”
Perhaps he and Professor Biden can have long discussions in the faculty lounge.

I am not sad.
If you falsify your data and will not make the raw data available for review you do not have a leg to stand on if someone calls you a fabricator.

my experience with legal system is that typically it’s just the lawyers that win in the end.
Lawyers used to go to law-school to lernd how to defend people in courts or to stop the cases before they went to court.
On TV, I see a lot of law firms advertising, but not to defend people in courts. They advertise to get the maximum amount possible for injuries in accidents. automobile or otherwise. Those lawyers are a big reason that auto insurance premiums are so high. I have no doubt that those lawyers are working with people on the inside who collude to give the 'defendants' as much as possible, with a huge percentage of the sums going to the lawyers, who share their amounts with those on the inside.
I know that my gripe is tangential, but it shows how the attorneys have made life a lot more expensive for all Americans. My home insurance has doubled in the last 4 years, and so have my auto insurance. The insurance companies have to cover their payouts with hikes on the insured.

Michael Mann should be sued for the expense of the “climate change” hoax.

The hockey stick was not ‘scientific’ and anybody with an undergraduate knowledge of math knows you can’t extrapolate predictions from historical data using sinusoidal or exponential fits. Thats what the hockey stick was. It’s meaningful to interpolate historical data and solve for fit coefficients over the historical fit period, but once you use those fits to extrapolate, things blow up and all bets are off.

It was using 12 cherry picked tree rings that supporting his data, ignoring thousands that didn’t.
He should be sued for the billions of dollars his hoax caused the world.
The natural situation of the world is to have poles free of ice. To believe the climate never changes shows stupidity. Our climate changes about every thirty years, alternating from warming to cooling. Mann knew the warming would occur during the 90’s
The reason the poles are frozen is because of the natural top-like spin of the earth as it orbits the sun. The earth’s axis wobbles.

Mann has a big pocket donor that pays all his legal expenses. The whole idea of the lawsuit was to intimidate anyone else who dared expose the climate scare scam.
