President Trump delays Mexico tariffs until April 2nd

After speaking with President Claudia Sheinbaum of Mexico, I have agreed that Mexico will not be required to pay Tariffs on anything that falls under the USMCA Agreement. This Agreement is until April 2nd. I did this as an accommodation, and out of respect for, President Sheinbaum. Our relationship has been a very good one, and we are working hard, together, on the Border, both in terms of stopping Illegal Aliens from entering the United States and, likewise, stopping Fentanyl. Thank you to President Sheinbaum for your hard work and cooperation!

Related, on Canada negotiations: https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/114111155189097825
Justin Trudeau, of Canada, called me to ask what could be done about Tariffs. I told him that many people have died from Fentanyl that came through the Borders of Canada and Mexico, and nothing has convinced me that it has stopped. He said that it’s gotten better, but I said, “That’s not good enough.” The call ended in a “somewhat” friendly manner! He was unable to tell me when the Canadian Election is taking place, which made me curious, like, what’s going on here? I then realized he is trying to use this issue to stay in power. Good luck Justin!

It’s the same principle as managing teenagers…give them praise when they do right, but keep the unacceptable consequences of bad behavior just out into the future…close enough to see easily but not here now while the behavior is good.

Tariffs can offer several potential benefits, depending on the economic and political context. Here are a few key advantages:

Protecting Domestic Industries: Tariffs can shield local businesses from foreign competition by making imported goods more expensive. This can help new or struggling industries develop and thrive.

Promoting Local Employment: By encouraging consumers to buy domestically produced goods, tariffs can help maintain and even create jobs within the country.

Generating Government Revenue: Tariffs provide a source of income for governments, which can be used to fund public services and infrastructure projects.

Reducing Trade Deficits: Tariffs can help reduce trade imbalances by discouraging excessive imports and encouraging the consumption of locally-produced goods.

Strategic Economic Policy: Countries may use tariffs as a tool to negotiate trade agreements and exert political pressure on other nations.

I think it’s about China sending materials to Mexico and they use it in a product...and because of MSMCA...no tariffs. In other words...Mexican dumping instead of USA dumping.

If Toyota is worried then they should use history as a guide. During WWII, the USSR moved a tank factory from Moscow to the Urals in a few months. Toyota can gut their facotries in Mexico and move them to the USA. Then there is no tariff.
