President Trump has accused Justin Trudeau of using the drama over tariffs to “stay in power,” following an explosive phone call with the Canadian prime minister as the war of words between Washington and Ottawa heated up on Wednesday.
Trump once again branded Canada’s leader “Governor” — a nod to his claim that America’s northern neighbor would be better off as America’s 51st state — in the blistering broadside.
He also slammed Trudeau for presiding over “Weak Border Policies,” that he said had led to drugs and illegal immigrants “pour[ing] into the United States,” in a rant on his Truth Social account.
“Justin Trudeau, of Canada, called me to ask what could be done about Tariffs. I told him that many people have died from Fentanyl that came through the Borders of Canada and Mexico, and nothing has convinced me that it has stopped,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“He said that it’s gotten better, but I said, ‘That’s not good enough.’ The call ended in a ‘somewhat’ friendly manner! He was unable to tell me when the Canadian Election is taking place, which made me curious, like, what’s going on here? I then realized he is trying to use this issue to stay in power. Good luck Justin!” he added.

I love the point Trump made about reciprocal tariffs. They could remove their trade barriers but instead they double down making ours go higher

Justin Trudeau look like he should be selling used Audis.
Some have argued recently, that Trump’s “Governor Trudeau” and “51-st state” talk is hurting the chances of Canada’s Conservatives in their upcoming election. What was almost guaranteed to be a loss for Trudeau’s party is now considered to be a close race.
I’m not one to gratuitously criticize Trump’s penchant for insults. On the contrary, I generally support him in that regard. It’s part of the way he operates and it’s more often than not, an effective tactic. But I wonder if this might be one of the rare instances when it might not have been the wise thing to do.
You make a good point, but I think if Trump keeps putting the “Governor” down and making fun of him, it strengthens the Conservatives of Canada.
The fact that Canada has allowed the Fentanyl problem to fester is not something Canada can be proud of and Trudeau has not proven to Trump that he’s taking effective action.
Castreaux has only a little time left. The prima donna’s career is almost over. And the leaders of the EU are in pretty much in the same position.
It appears that they'll vote for the Liberal Party and to continue the economic stagnation in Canada just because of TDS.
Trump should suggest “Grapes” for Governor of the 51st state.
Proportion is not part of your lexicon, is it?
Only 1 % of the invaders, and 1 % of the fentanyl being brought into your country comes across the northern border.
That’s OK, we’ll get over this latest insult as well, and we’ll get back to being friends again.
That goes for both he and his ragged clique..

...impugning the reputation of used audis...
It’s a good point. May I ask where you got the 1% estimate? Cheers.
Thanks for posting this data. I see your valid point. The data certainly tells us that most of the fentanyl being seized -- almost all of it -- is coming through the Mexican border region. I wonder how much is getting through the porous borders on both North and South and NOT being seized by Customs Officials. Another issue is the Biden administration ran border security very loosely for the past four years, and it's their data we are looking at. One of the big problems Canadians may face is the electricity for data centers they so affordably supply to New York City and other big cities (thanks to bountiful water reservoirs in Ontario and Quebec) may not be as viable a business a few years down the road if talk about micro-nuclear power plants materializes. |
