MADISON, Wis. -- As President Trump addressed Congress Tuesday night, the Wisconsin State Capitol rotunda was empty. But just hours earlier, hundreds of protesters filled the building.
"We need Trump out of there," said one protester.
The group rallied against the Trump administration at large while also singling out issues like reproductive rights, the war between Russia and Ukraine and Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency efforts.
"Now they're coming after Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and SNAP. We work for a food pantry and it's going to hurt us so bad."
Democratic state leaders urged attendees to take their federal frustrations to the ballot box on April 1 in the Wisconsin Supreme Court race between liberal Dane County Judge Susan Crawford and conservative Waukesha County judge and former Attorney General Brad Schimel.
"A lot of [voters in other states] have to wait until November of 2026 to deliver the rebuke that these jerks so richly deserve," said Sen. Kelda Roys. "But we in Wisconsin are lucky for many, many reasons... We get to do that in just four weeks."
"We cannot afford to go back to the days when extremists on the right controlled the Supreme Court," said Rep. Lisa Subeck.
Some demonstrators won't be able to follow through at the polls.
"We're not old enough to vote yet," said one protester, "so we're just trying to get our voices out there in a different way."
Regardless, they joined the other several hundred circling Capitol Square and reverberating through the rotunda.
"I don't want fear to stop me," said one demonstrator. "If you live in a nation and you see something's going wrong and you have the means of speaking out... Why not do that?"
They can’t get more than 100 people to protest? In ‘The People’s Republik of Madistan?’
And many there yesterday aren’t even old enough to VOTE?
Brilliant. *SMIRK*
Maybe if they waved their dwindling checkbooks, it might be more convincing.
The Madison version of Hitler Youth
“”Maybe if they waved their dwindling checkbooks,”””
Maybe if they waved their dwindling EBT cards.........,
IMO the Democratic occupation of the Wisconsin Capital many years ago is what led to the J6 protest in the US Capital.
USAID funds to protestors were cut off, that’s why.
Adult protesters trying to bulk up their numbers by bringing whatever kids they have that they forgot to abort.
What a bunch of idiots. Trump wants to eliminate taxes on Social Security, not defund it. He also wants to and is eliminating gov. waste. Students who probably have a 6th grade ability and listen to Soros and his gang of thieves. My guess is they are going to college to major in protesting.
Losers!
“We’re not old enough to vote yet.” Sounds like a bunch of toddlers doing their “extra credit” homework. Department of Education puppets.
Response to them: "You're not old enough to vote yet because you're not old enough to think for yourselves. Go play with your Barbies and stop letting your teachers hide behind your skirts."
The left are still standing on the shore wondering if the boat will come back.
Rhetoricalquestion: Why is it that the media reporting on these protests NEVER call out the lies that they are spewing?
Madison always liked to give Berkeley a run for its money when it came to idiotic ultra-lib commie protests.
The tradition continues...
The result of eating Tide pods.
I’d be shocked if a single one of them had a job.
:)
“If they can outlaw abortion the next thing they’re going to do is take offcontraception”.
…that would indeed be silly. Stop bed hopping is another idea.
