KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — A deal to end the war between Ukraine and Russia “is still very, very far away,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, adding that he believed Ukraine’s long-term partnership with the U.S. was strong enough that American support would continue despite recent fraught relations with U.S. President Donald Trump.

I just want to know when the zeepers will go to Ukraine to actually fight for them. Ukraine will take anyone into their army. Time to put up or shut up. Ukriane is running low on troops, time to put your beliefs into action.

Go fight for Ukraine if you believe in this so much.

serious question. What do those that want to continue funding Ukraine want to see happen?

If they couldn’t defeat Russia when they had their best equipment and best troops in 2022 and $250 billion in US funding, what do they think will be accomplished if USA sends another 50 billion that way?

yeah that was a mistake :)

Europe will foot the bill from here on in.

I HATE talk of major, multi country wars when there is no real basis for it..like people are just itching to see one.

But this is setting up to be a possible multi country war...I know it kind of is, since NK sent troops and a billion countries are supplying weapons to ukraine.

But I think if europe isn’t careful, many of its men will be on the battlefield in ukraine.

And boy would that be stupid and a disaster all around.

It is not about wanting to continue funding Ukraine. It is about enabling an aggressor state to leave, and Russia is the aggressor state. Were their ‘reasons’ Russia did what it did? Maybe, but the fact still remains the Russia invaded Ukraine.

What does worry me though is not about continuing to fund Ukraine. It would be great if Ukraine became a European Israel (a well-armed, ‘don’t tread on me’ kinda country), but that’s not the problem.

My worry, as a supporter (and not all supporters of Ukraine are ‘Zeepers’) is that unfortunately where Ukraine has gotten to is the realization that the ONLY way it can win (whether it is win or ‘win’) is by having stronger nations (literally) fight on its behalf.

This means Europe, or preferably, the US and Europe.

Why is that concerning?

Simple - because that will result in WW3 and nuclear weapons, and I think that is why President Trump is likely being super aggressive to Zelenskyy!

Why/how? Is it not more nuclear saber-rattling by Putin?

No, and this is why. If NATO troops move into Ukraine (I am not talking about Unit/DEVGRU types, or German KSK, or UK SAS/SBS - I am talking about proper, ‘flagged’ military), then it will be an issue. For example, the UK talking about Eurofightsrs patrolling the airspace.

There are very many things that can go wrong, and the fact is that Russia CANNOT win a conventional war against NATO.

They will use nukes - tactical nukes, sure, but that can easily escalate.

I think that is what President Trump does not want, and what the Europeans (who are used to pushing forward knowing Uncle Sam has their back) don’t quite get it.

As for Zelenskyy - his army has fought bravely, but he knows without a European/Europe & US intervention, Ukraine is done.

So, it is not about funding. Even if they got all the frozen Russian assets, that will not bring back the dead and wounded soldiers and fix the manpower issue.

Zelenskyy’s only solution is for the war to become a Greater War, and as much as I think Russia is weaker than it wants the world to think it is, I am also confident that there is no way they will get into a shooting war with NATO on their border and that war stays conventional.

If we almost went nuclear during the Cuban missile crisis, I doubt the Russians will be OK with Typhoons taking our their fighters and SEAD/DEAD attacks on their radar sites by NATO Viper W.Weasels.

No way that is happening without it getting Sun-surface-hot, but unfortunately for Zelenskyy, the only way he can win is those dice being rolled.

If the war ends, He’s out of a job. He knows this. So the longer the war goes, the longer martial law is intact and he stays in power.

Wrong. When Trump cuts off US support, it will end quickly.

Maybe they want the EU to conduct long range missile strikes on Moscow and Russian industrial centers.

So long as they keep the ensuing WW3 confined to Europe, if the good people are willing to continue feeding Zelenskyy’s blood lust with their youth, and someone else’s money is paying for it, I don’t care.

Bad to feel that way, but we have bigger fish to fry in this country.

I think the Euros will begin to realize the enormous cost that will come from their treasuries and armies if they take up the full support of Ukraine. They’ll force Little Z to go back and take the deal with Trump. No way is England or France going to front most of the bills for Ukraine by themselves regardless of what Starmer and Macron is saying publicly!

They won’t do a damm thing unless they get the US signed on. This is just posturing. Only France has an appreciable military and it is engaged in Africa.

That’s also what you get when you ask them how to get the Russians out without negotiations. That or “Homina, homina, homina” or “Excuse me, I think I left my bathtub running.”
