France suggests partial one-month truce between Russia and Ukraine

France is proposing a partial one-month truce between Russia and Ukraine, Emmanuel Macron and his foreign minister have said, as European efforts to bolster support for Kyiv accelerate in the face of uncertain US backing.

On Monday, a day after European leaders rallied around Ukraine at a summit in London, Jean-Noël Barrot said: “Such a truce – on air, sea and energy infrastructure – would allow us to determine whether Vladimir Putin is acting in good faith” and gauge his attitude to “real peace negotiations”.

WTH is a “partial truce?”

“We get to shoot at you, but you don’t get to shoot at us?”

France needs to get back in touch with us when it’s gotten its feet on the ground.

Idiots, Russia isn’t going to cease fire, it would be stupid for Putin to do so.

“ Idiots, Russia isn’t going to cease fire, it would be stupid for Putin to do so.”

I kinda think that was Zelinksy’s reason for objecting to a cease fire. So then, what is the way forward?

Crazy stuff.

The Euroweenies are using the term truce and putting it in the time frame of a month.

By putting a time frame on the “truce” you are engaging in the self-fulfilling prophecy of failure at least under the surface.

Trump wants an INDEFINITE cease fire which suggests the optimism that once the shooting stops it will eventually be permanently stopped even in if it takes weeks or months to bring the permanence to closure.

To me this looks like a plan Larry, Moe, and Curly Joe came up with and scribbled on a cocktail napkin.

Reminds me of the great Rush Limbaugh, who during the Iraq War once said that ‘truce’ was Arabic for “We’re out of ammunition. “

Actually an interim temporary partial one month truce provisionally extendable to a short-term two months if stopgap conditions are tentatively agreed upon.

Putin will see right through this. They ask for a truce while promising to send in troops and weapons and planes? A deal cannot be done without American involvement.

The way forward is for Zelensky to continue to ignore reality and go full Fuhrerbunker and draft all 14-18 year olds for the defense of Kiev.

Trump wants peace.

It takes two sides to agree to peace.

It only takes one to wage war.

Zelensky probably doesnt want a peace that costs Ukraine 20% or more of its country, and leaves Russia in a position where additional Ukrainian land is under threat (Odessa comes to immediate mind, as a land locked Ukraine would be a neutered Ukraine). So he would like to have better terms.

Russia hasnt stepped forward to offer a cease fire. Not sure they really want that either, since they seem to feel the Ukraine defense and support is crumbling. If Russia really wanted a cease fire, they could offer one at any time.

Silliness, like Russians don’t play chess? One, the Ukes are falling apart, so why would Russia give them a chance to regroup and rest?

Two, the minute a cease fire happens, the Brits and French will flood in all kinds of aid, weapons, fighter jets, etc.
Basically, Ukraine would get defacto NATO status that could easily become formal on any given morning.

Three and probably the biggest obstacle, what does Russia get out of it? No mention of ending sanctions, returning the 300 billion in stolen gold and currency, yachts and condos, restarting Nordstream, turning SWIFT back on? Permanent western recognition of Crimea and the breakaway republics?

Without that, all a ceasefire does is achieve all the DC/London axis goals, and stop Russia from theirs... so why would they sign?

Putin has the winning Fabian strategy-he just has to hold the line for a few more months while the men and materiel collapse in Ukraine.
