Trump will address Congress. Why isn't this first speech called a State of the Union?
NPR ^ | 3/1/25 | Alana Wise

President Trump on Tuesday will deliver his first address to a joint session of Congress since his reelection. While the speech shares many characteristics with a State of the Union address, this presentation is slightly different in nature.

Trump's speech to Congress is expected to outline his legislative priorities for the upcoming term and highlight the work his administration has accomplished since taking office.

I suppose it’s possible that Trump will spring his Epstein/FBI trap in front of the entire nation.

It was apparent when Trump named Bondi that she was a messenger girl and not a wartime consigliere. The ditzy woman has been made to look very foolish. I’d like to know what the heck Trump is up to. Regardless, Must See TV!

Maybe because it is not a state of the union address which is given after an invitation from the House

NPR is like Linda before primary season. They know their funding is hanging by a thread so it serves them to reel in the rat propaganda.

I think Trump will address everything. I hope he stays on script. I love the man but to a half the country he can become a very boorish speaker. He needs to concentrate on the message and deliver it in such a way as to not turn off the non Trump fan.

It’sa State if the union. What is this new narrative that it can’t be one of ours in his first year? This is some sorority rule. Nothing in the constitution says it’s only a state of the union message in the second third and fourth years.

This is just some Dolores Kearns Goodwin historian kind of dreams trying to screw with Trump.

True. I’m not sure why ,,but it is not officially considered a State of the Union speech, during his inauguration year.

According to who exactly? Not the construction, not according to any law. It’sa State of the union. The scrotes are just trying to take the wind out of his sails.
Obama gave one in 2009 and nobody called it anything else

Trump should give the state of the union address the first week of OCTOBER!

Fiscal year and September 30, so October would be appropriate… and just before election!

Let’s see who stands up and claps for his speech and those that remain seated. That will tell a lot.

According to Wiki:

“Starting in 1981, Ronald Reagan, the 40th U.S. president, began the practice of newly inaugurated presidents delivering an address to Congress in the first year of their term but not designating that speech an official “State of the Union” “.
