Climate policy requires a more realistic approach
Reuters ^ | 2/28/2025 | Edward Chancellor

The pursuit of net zero carbon emissions has been a resounding failure. Solar and wind power have grown to a mere 3.5% of primary energy production.

Germany and the United Kingdom, which get a relatively large share of their electricity from renewables, also suffer from the world’s highest electricity costs.

A more realistic policy like scrapping it. Seriously, at some point, market pricing will cause alternative energy prices to become viable competitors with fossil fuel prices (which will go up over time). It will happen naturally in a functioning market and no one is going to be caught off guard. Government intervention is just a massive opportunity for fraud and crony payments.

Did Trump getting elected give everyone, even his enemies the guts to tell the truth sometimes now?

In part, it will never be the whole truth...that climate nonsense is a complete fraud.

It was SO HOT here in nyc this past summer.

It was SO COLD here in nyc this winter.

Amazing, huh?

It’s crazy...I remember it being REALLY HOT in the summer when I was a kid and REALLY COLD in the winter when I was a kid.

The left will still fight for their insane ideas and God forbid, all the insanity will come flooding back if they ever hold power again.

But until then, sanity is slowing (or faster than slowly) returning.

Thank goodness.

Climate policy is the biggest scam that has ever been invented by money-grubbing, power-drunk corrupt politicians!

When a hurricane hits Louisiana it can cause billions in damages and dozens of deaths.

When a hurricane hits Bangladesh it can cause thousands of deaths.

Why the difference? In Louisiana a lot of people own cars and can self evacuate. Buildings, roads, etc., are built to higher standards. Bangladesh, OTOH, is poor.

Even if we accept everything the climate alarmists claim as true, the solution cannot be to reduce ourselves to pre-industrial levels of energy production and transportation.

A wealthy and energy intensive society is far more able to cope with the challenges of climate change than a poor one.

When the Carbon Tax is gone, I’ll believe we’re winning.

I don’t accept the notion that we even need a “climate policy”.

We just need to recognize that the climate is dynamic and there’s nothing we can do about it.

It’s as useless as a round-earth policy unless, of course, the true purpose is to take money and power.

There should be no policy.

"... Climate policy requires a more realistic approach..."

How about "no approach"?

Reuters should be prepared for the climate cultists coming after them. Apostasy is no better tolerated by the Church of Climate Change than it is in Islam.

But this how he ends the article...

“Human ingenuity was responsible for developing fossil fuels which delivered improvements in material prosperity while endangering the planet.”

Summer of Sam, 1977. Power outages. People slept in meat lockers if they could.

We here in Cali also have brownouts and very expensive electricity rates. They have been deliberately been removing nuclear power plants and dams while refusing to allow more gas and coal plants to be built. We do have a lot of empty desert and get lots of sun but it’s still not enough to reduce costs or increase supply of electricity. And those giant solar plants in the desert are deadly to all living things who approach them. And they don’t work at night.

I wonder what Trump’s thinking is on nuclear power. It’s the only realistic alternative to fossil fuels.

We kneecap our energy production while China and India pollute baby pollute has NEVER been a realistic approach to anything except achieving the destruction of the USA. Trump ended that one DAY ONE.

If libs want to eat soy and use solar panels for energy then they can go right ahead, the other 7 billion people on Earth will either follow their lead (how did that election go again) or they won’t.
