KYIV — President Trump’s special envoy to the Ukraine War urged Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to sign the now-deferred mineral rights deal with Washington during the envoy’s visit to Kyiv last week, but Zelensky’s chief of staff insisted on the Friday Oval Office signing that went badly awry, a senior US official involved with the talks told The Post.

After three days of intense negotiations, retired Gen. Keith Kellogg secured the long-sought agreement with Ukraine that would have provided Washington with 50% of all future proceeds from the European country’s lucrative critical and rare-earth minerals.

It’s like walking in to your bank and insulting and threatening the loan officer. Good luck ever getting another nickel.

I would be perfectly if President Trump walked away from Ukraine and NATO.

I would be perfectly if President Trump walked away from Ukraine and NATO.

NATO started as a defender of America's interests. It has morphed into something quite different.

If “Z” went to DC with the intention of signing the minerals deal, I am still confused about the disconnect that took place

I would be dubious about any agreements with Ukraine due to their history of severe corruption.

“ When shaking hands with a Ukrainian, be sure to check how many fingers he stole”.

Everyone in Europe knows this.

Come boy was advised by rice, Nuland, vindman and obama to reject the deal according to someone on twitter. Which is a Logan act violation. But trumps crack team never does anything about those infractions, so…

It was a mistake to let Zelensky anywhere near the White House IMO. There are other places where a deal like this could be signed without elevating the grifter’s stature. He didn’t even bother to put on a tie and insulted his hosts. Never again.

To your point, there’s been lots of posturing but no arrest/indictment of a high profile liberal. Not even one. Just saying.

We constantly elevate Zelensky far beyond his station in life when we allow him to meet with American heads of state. It is beyond me why we constantly fall for the media set-ups designed to humiliate Trump and his administration, by limelighting absolute garbage and trash from Europe. The garbage and trash then only grows in stature especially in its own country, just by virtue of being thrown together with the most legitimate international power-wielders, of which Zelensky is not one. Now I’m going riding. Zero wind, high of 73 degrees, and sunny. Have a great weekend.

Zelensky was planning to do what he has done previously. Agree in private but disagree in public.

I think the minerals deal was finally hammered out but Depending just won’t agree to a cease fire. He keeps demanding money for armaments to keep fighting. Trump wants that cease fire yesterday so he’s duty n this guy looked til he gets the picture.

Marco Rubio said that Self sky was playing games with him about the cease fire. Everyone they come close to vetting him to agree on a cease-fire proposal he’s back out at the last minute.

There is no need for NATO nowdays (once the wall came down).

The Soviet Union broke up in 1991, and the Warsaw Pact doesn’t even exist anymore!

Methinks Zelenskyy and his Chief of Staff were working in concert with Democrats to create an issue that would weaken Trump, and somehow end his Presidency. Trump is derailing the gravy train, the war, and their careers.

A mineral deal with the U.S. was (and is) in Ukraine’s interest.

Of course, there would be specifics to work out. You do this behind closed doors and BEFORE a presidential-level meeting.
