Very sad story. I can’t fault the officer for how this ended but the dead man was very damaged from his J6 incarceration. He said he couldn’t go back to jail and he succeeded in accomplishing that.

In Georgia it used to take someone three DUIs and an administrative proceeding followed by another offense to catch a felony Habitual Violator.

This guy appears to have violated the first rule for criminals - don’t commit two crimes at the same time.

He said he was going for a gun when he went back to his car. As the officer begins to make the arrest, Huttle runs back inside his vehicle, prompting the officer to chase him, shouting, “No, don’t you do it, buddy.” “I’m shooting myself,” Huttle appears to say as a struggle ensued.

I feel so sorry for that guy. He should have laid low for a year or two. Going 70 in 55 is not a heinous crime, but his habitual offender status couldn't be negotiated. God bless him and give him peace.
