HUD Secretary Turner to scrap costly federal zoning rule Trump warned would ‘destroy’ suburbs

WASHINGTON — Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Scott Turner is set to announce the elimination of a costly Obama- and Biden-era federal zoning rule on Wednesday that President Trump warned would “destroy” suburban neighborhoods nationwide.

“Local and state governments understand the needs of their communities much better than bureaucrats in Washington, DC,” Turner said in a statement exclusively shared with The Post. “Terminating this rule restores trust in local communities and property owners, while protecting America’s suburbs and neighborhood integrity.”

“By terminating the AFFH [Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing] rule, localities will no longer be required to complete onerous paperwork and drain their budgets to comply with the extreme and restrictive demands made up by the federal government,” he added.

“As HUD returns to the original understanding and enforcement of the law without onerous compliance requirements, we can better serve rural, urban and tribal communities that need access to fair and affordable housing.”

Trump must go back and start terminating all EO’s that direct the implementation of the UN’s Agenda 21 and Sustainable Development.

Start with EO 12852, Bill Clinton 1993

I think as a real estate developer, Trump has an affinity for HUD — insofar as he can make his mark on it.

Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing (AFFH) encourages the development of multi-family housing units in certain areas as part of its broader goal to reduce housing segregation and promote equal access to housing.

While AFFH does not mandate the construction of multi-family housing, it requires jurisdictions receiving federal housing funds to actively address barriers to fair housing. This often includes zoning reforms, which may lead to:

Increased multi-family housing development in historically exclusive areas.
Rezoning efforts to allow for higher-density housing.
Affordable housing initiatives to expand options for lower-income families.
The policy aims to counteract exclusionary zoning laws that have historically limited multi-family housing, which disproportionately affects lower-income and minority households. However, the actual implementation depends on local and state governments’ responses to AFFH guidance.

AFFH drops turds on a wedding cake without respect for the owner(s) of the wedding cake. Nobody wants anything to do with the end result.

Putting Section 8 welfare cases in a ghetto crap apartment complex in your nice suburb was the entire point.

It is not necessary or proper for Fedzilla to be involved in zoning issues at the state and local levels. Talk about overreach...

The effort to ghetto-ize suburbs is very real and very ugly.

Yeah, we see it a lot here in CA.

Hives going up everywhere. “Affordable Housing”...for Rat supporters.

Lotta Fed money goes into that as well. Subsidized beach living. If only the people in Iowa knew they were paying for some Lefty to live 2 blocks from the surf!

Every day is a new win. The Dems can’t even get up before they are punched in the face again.

This is the role that forces low income apartments into every suburb in America.

Nearly on every corner.

Yes. I spent my life upgrading neighborhoods until I got into a very nice one. There were rumors about a section 8 housing development that was due to built in our area less than a mile from my house. If it was to become, I would have to sell and move out to prevent losing all the equity I have in the house.

Another “present” from obama. Hopefully it never comes to fruition.

bastards. They feather their nests while they crap in ours.
