Sipping a cold brew right now - I got to Starbucks way too much - but yes this is good news. Quality not quantity.
A year later in my first "real job", our weekly meeting would commence with a reminder we were GD lucky we have our jobs because any idiot off the street could perform our duties just fine. The reality was that we all knew we were the last batch of idiots off the street, and had better do well and get promoted into a position that was important and of value to the organization.
And there is such a chasm between employees who see themselves as actual baristas and care šµāļøvs. entitled gen z stonerš®āšØ types literally taking up space at a drive- thru window and could care less your orderās wrong or missing something because by the time you drive off itās just too late anyway. š
Unemployment numbers are going to be ugly!!!!!
Thereās a clicheā which is apropos here imho (their coffee has always sucked)
Itās a shame that you donāt have multiple options (we have over a dozen chains here giving sb a run for their lives)
“DEI” Is supposed to stand for “Decaf, Extra Sugar, and Inside”......It’s not supposed to fill six floors of your headquarters.
And donāt get me started on how annoying it was when states like mine started to ban plastic straws and condiments, and when gender neutral bathrooms and transgender flags everywhere became a thing š·. It just totally destroyed the culture of the place and poisoned interactions in subtle yet profound ways. Trump reestablishing plastic straws with executive order delighted me.
First World problems š
Where are the protest demonstrations?
Good start. Now stop burning the beans.
Is CNN going to do a few sob stories about these lost jobs?
Wait.. nooooo.... Adam Smith D-WA just said business leaders don’t think what DOGE, and now Starbucks, is doing is the way to become more efficient. What a steaming pile of lying dogsh*t Adam Smith is.
It all went downhill with a retail business model. At first it was mostly commercial, and free sample packs on select airlines. Their retail business model was their hype and "Brand Name Value" demise. By 1999 I wouldn't buy anything from them going forward. You could throw a Starbucks sign up over a sewage treatment plant and sales would continue. As brand value rises, the product value declines, in most cases of retail business.
I think Elon Musk has gone too far this time. People care about their coffee.
“Mass layoff of Starbucks workers could hurt families and local economies ā but may not dent the overall economy.”
.
!!!!!
I wouldn’t be surprised if all those that were let go were part of unionized Starbucks’ shops.
LOL no wonder Iām no fan of DEI! I like extra (caffeinated) shots, and half or unsweetened, with honey/agave on the side. šš
