All the other parties, including the Christian Democrat party, or whatever it’s called are going to form a coalition to minimize the effect of the AFD

They’ve done this already, and that is what pissed people off and made the AFD grow larger. It’s just not a critical mass yet.

The result will likely be another "grand coalition" of CDU/CSU, SPD and Greens identical to the current government except with CDU/CSU in charge and Merz holding the Chancellorship.

The results on Die Welt's page regarding the number of deputies shows that CDU/CSU + AfD could form their own majority, but I can't see them forming a coalition so opposed by German elites. If Merz got a pledge from Weidel to mollify certain policies and boot out certain perceived extremists, a deal might be possible. But I doubt Merz and the CDU/CSU have the courage to do so

So the German people will continue to get the shaft, although with lube.

What is the point of voting for the “conservatives” in Germany if they are openly saying they will ally with the Greens and other Leftist parties rather than the AfD? Seems like the main “conservative” party is basically the German version of RINOs.

Yes, that’s how proportional representation work.
If AFD wins they will have to ally themselves, as well, with other parties in order to obtain absolute majority.

40 out of 43 European countries use this system. It’s 100% constitutional, it’s the law.

Which European countries use proportional representation?

What will happen here is the “right” and “left” will go in coalition together

Check back in 4 years and see how this is going for them...

It’s a slow burner. Like the UK with Labor.

Reform/AFD get some time to prepare.

Far right AfD party came in a close second:
“The AfD are already celebrating the result with their leader Alice Weidel claiming that the anti-migrant party was now ‘firmly anchored’ in mainstream German politics”
Deutschland wird es richtig machen!

This is a scam. Just like in France and England, the right gets almost enough votes but gets no power. These votes are manipulated to stop the people from gaining power. Its a game they play to hold power. The votes are manipulated to keep the elites in charge. Europe is toast. They are no longer our friend. They are as bad or worse than Russia. We can’t trust them anymore.

I understand, proportional representation, I’m just simply stating that they’re gonna take 20% of the vote, but because they’re so ostracized, even the next closest align party, which is the Christian Democrats, are going to align with the radical leftists to minimize the AFD’s influence,

I guess the moral of the story is even while they’ll take second place in the election, they’ll take last place when it comes to the levers of power and influence

Based on the exit poll, the FDP, Germany’s version of a libertarian party, is just below the 5% minimum threshold to hold seats in the Bundestag. FDP was part of the ruling coalition called the traffic light coalition as the color of the FDP is yellow/buff. Yellow is the color associated with classical liberal parties starting with the English Whigs.

Only question is if the CDU/CSU are the equivalent of RINOs and won’t let the AfD participate and instead cut a deal with the libs.

The same was true here, the GOPe was useless and if Trump didn't come along and fix it, it would have already died.

These things take time and leadership since there will be no stop to the Jihadi massacres the rino's in Germany days are numbered.
