Washington — Federal workers received an email on Saturday instructing them to document five things they accomplished in the past week, and Elon Musk said those who don't reply would risk losing their jobs.
The email from the Office of Management and Budget included the subject line, "What did you do last week?" It instructed recipients to reply with five bullet points of what they had accomplished in the last week, excluding any classified information, and asked workers to send their responses to an OMB email address and their supervisor.
Musk, who is overseeing the White House's Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, said in a post on X that "Failure to respond will be taken as a resignation." He said the directive was "Consistent with President [Trump's] instructions."

I wonder if they have to include work done at their second jobs or visits to National Parks and shopping centers.
He needs to tone it down a bit. Usurping the authority of the Cabinet members is a problem.
Maybe meet one-on-one with each member before issuing dictates. A boilerplate mandate isn’t effective because they are so different from each other.

I’ve had a busy week, Elon.
That is a good one. He likes a meme
It’s fine. This has all been discussed, guaranteed. The media is terrified of Musk’s DOGE team, so they are trying to manufacture a controversy. Don’t fall for it. No cabinet member has spoken out to complain.
I’d be surprised if us workers could even put 2 sentences together.
LOL! When all this started, I remember this idiot coming out and saying she had to work at home because she had a second job on the net where she was making a lot more money than she was making “working” for the government. The broad was a real airhead. She didn’t read the tea leaves before she opened her big mouth.
Personally, I’d try to be friends with the new boss.
Accountability!
What a concept!
Trump/Musk bringing some common sense to gubmint.

For the Federal office type environments, I have difficulty believing this isn't already part of standard office procedure.
Musk must already know of some tell-tale characteristic that shows up in such reports when an entire department or organization has low/negative productivity. Not so much the individual employee that is being targeted here as it is entire departments.
My hubby had to do this for decades in the private sector.
Note to the bureaucracy: Welcome to real life.
This is outside the box stuff.
This is shock and awe.
Good cop, bad cop stuff.
Sometimes you need a hatchet man, or in this case a chain saw man.
Besides Elite Stream Media is stupid.
It is only capable of following the shiny object.
Musk is the shiny object.
Meanwhile, the Federal gubmint has undergone the greatest transformation in history in just a month.
I am glad someone else feels this way, though I would say tone it down more than a bit. Trump is in charge, at best Musk is an advisor. His position, even if cleverly designed to be a continuation of the one started by Barky 15 years ago is not superior to Cabinet Sec. He can study, examine, recommend but he can’t fire and the workforce doesnt report to him.
I find it somewhat amusing. When I was a contractor at Hanscom AFB, they would close on snow days. (Weird, I know, they didn’t want to pay a premium for night work clearing snow.) Contractors would not be paid unless they had prior approval to WFH (pre-Covid) with a list of specifical tasks to be accomplished. I always had a list of not-urgent, but required tasks that could be done on my laptop at home. Preparing the list was a good exercise to organize work, and prioritize tasks.
Can the Commander in Chief and The boss of the “Cabinet members” “unsurp” their “authority”?
How many did Biden hire in his four years?? a million? or more?? what job openings?? Trump/Musk know Biden was manipulating the federal workforce for some reason i can’t fathom? Once they are ovr the probationary period it is almost impossible to fire them.
