Almost five years on from the COVID-19 pandemic, the Social Security trust fund has financially benefited following the deaths of more than a million Americans.
More than one million Americans died from the coronavirus between 2020 and 2023, meaning those premature deaths saved billions and billions in Social Security payments.
According to the National Bureau of Economic Research, around $294 billion has been saved as a result. The figure would have been higher if not for lost tax revenue offsetting the total by approximately $205 billion.
Survivor benefits to children and spouses of the deceased contributed to the money saved by the Social Security trust.
The researchers did note that COVID can have other impacts on Social Security, with long-COVID sufferers or others affected by the pandemic, may dip into their benefits more prematurely than pre-pandemic.

My mom was 88 when she got it.
She’s a beast...got some sniffles, better in 2 days...she gave it to me and I was bedridden for 5 weeks!
I mean completely bedridden.
But I survived, never thought I was gonna die.
And i never got it again or at least felt it again.
5 weeks of being sick is worth not getting the vaccine.
Seen a couple heart attacks in healthy people after the vax.
A number of people who I know got it still seem fine, but who knows down the road.
They did that here in PA. Covid patients were moved into nursing homes.
I will say the VA here sheltered their patients. They locked it down, no visitors
Gov Cuomo, too. He sent covid infected patients into nursing homes.

Unless you died suddenly (from jabs) or were forced onto a ventilator or Remdisivir.
