US to Disconnect Ukraine from Starlink if it Rejects Minerals Agreement — News Agency

According to Reuters, the US told the Ukrainian side that the country would be "immediately shut off" from Starlink if Zelensky again rejected the mineral deal

WASHINGTON, February 22. /TASS/. The United States is considering disconnecting Ukraine from the Starlink satellite communication system as one of the measures to pressure Kiev into concluding a deal on rare-earth minerals, Reuters reported, citing sources.

According to its information, the issue of granting Ukraine further access to the system in connection with the conclusion of an agreement on minerals has already been raised by Washington in negotiations with Kiev after the refusal of Vladimir Zelensky from the initial proposal of US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. The US side raised it again on Thursday at a meeting between US presidential envoy for Ukraine and Russia Keith Kellogg and Zelensky.

According to Reuters, the US told the Ukrainian side that the country would be "immediately shut off" from Starlink if Zelensky again rejected the mineral deal. "Ukraine runs on Starlink. Losing Starlink would be a massive blow," a source told the news agency. Reuters explained that Starlink is actively used by the Ukrainian military to maintain communication.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that Washington and Kiev were close to signing an agreement.

Zelensky, in a video message published on his Telegram channel on Friday, expressed hope for a "fair result" on the agreement with the United States on rare-earth metals in Ukraine. Work on the draft document continues, he said.

Look again. This is about the minerals deal, not about accepting a peace deal. This is about greed, not ending the war.

What they need is irrelevant. There is no end to perceived need. Zelensky has not used the money he has extracted for the Country or it’s people.
While it is not the US responsibility to make Ukraine whole, the mineral rights deal would bring money into Ukraine since US could facilitate the mining etc. Furthermore the US would then have interests to protect in Ukraine. That partnership would safeguard the Country.

You gotta be kidding. The US has given that corrupt nation over $350 billion in military and other aid and we don’t deserve something for it? In the meantime the Euro-weenies got loan guarantees for what little they’ve given.

A country that most now are waking up to the fact they the Europeans and the globalists started a war they can’t win. Or better yet, don’t want to win because it’s a huge laundromat for everyone to get their hands on some of the $350 billion.

Ukraine needs to be cut off from any an all types of US support, military, financial and Starlink. This is Europes war, if they want it to continue, let them pay for it.

In the meantime Trump/Putin peace talks are the way to go!

Then Ukrainian shouldn’t have stolen half the money and then lost the war.

“This is old fashioned mercentile imperialism blackmailing a country fighting for its life. This is morally abhorrent.”

Ukraine isn’t fighting for it’s life, the corrupt, installed government is willing to sacrifice a generation of their own people to keep themselves in power.

You are confusing “blackmailing” with brinksmanship.

Was America greedy when Biden gave Ukraine 100s of billions of dollars, no strings attached?

I don't care about the deal nearly as much as about the powers being applied and by whom.

There is so much propaganda floating around that you can’t find the water that it’s floating on.

Does anyone have any proof that Starlink is vital to Ukraine military success? If it was decisive, they would not be losing. There are other satellite communication services other than Starlink. The difference between them and Starlink is the quantity of hype.

Mineral deals with countries are with the country, not the government. A Russian friendly government installed in Ukraine would still be obligated under such an agreement. They could break the agreement, but so could the US when it discovers there are no minerals in significant quantity there. This whole minerals deal thing was more propaganda generated out of desperation.

Not ending the senseless deaths of millions is morally abhorrent. Using leverage to push Zelensky toward ending the war is perfectly fine.

Its up to the Ukrainian people if they want to keep resisting or not. But lets not dress this up as doing the morally right thing in helping the Ukranian people. This is kicking them when they’re down to loot them of THEIR wealth.

Just walk away and stop giving aid if you must but leave their wealth alone. They need it and its theirs.
