According to Reuters, the US told the Ukrainian side that the country would be "immediately shut off" from Starlink if Zelensky again rejected the mineral deal
WASHINGTON, February 22. /TASS/. The United States is considering disconnecting Ukraine from the Starlink satellite communication system as one of the measures to pressure Kiev into concluding a deal on rare-earth minerals, Reuters reported, citing sources.
According to its information, the issue of granting Ukraine further access to the system in connection with the conclusion of an agreement on minerals has already been raised by Washington in negotiations with Kiev after the refusal of Vladimir Zelensky from the initial proposal of US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. The US side raised it again on Thursday at a meeting between US presidential envoy for Ukraine and Russia Keith Kellogg and Zelensky.
According to Reuters, the US told the Ukrainian side that the country would be "immediately shut off" from Starlink if Zelensky again rejected the mineral deal. "Ukraine runs on Starlink. Losing Starlink would be a massive blow," a source told the news agency. Reuters explained that Starlink is actively used by the Ukrainian military to maintain communication.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that Washington and Kiev were close to signing an agreement.
Zelensky, in a video message published on his Telegram channel on Friday, expressed hope for a "fair result" on the agreement with the United States on rare-earth metals in Ukraine. Work on the draft document continues, he said.

Do whatever it takes to end this slaughter.
The EU countries will slowly "wise up".
This is old fashioned mercentile imperialism blackmailing a country fighting for its life. This is morally abhorrent.
When you played with borrowed toys, you really DON’T have any playing cards.
Z will be lucky to survive the next two years.
(by ‘survive’, I mean literally be alive, breathing)
Worried about “blackmailing” an identified corrupt thief? LOL.
A deal that is mutually beneficial would be desirable but it is increasingly seems that we are using the threat of the Russian army to blackmail Ukraine. This would make us no better than the Russians.
Huhhh??
Only to the morally confused. Like the trans people.
This of course can be done to anybody. What I don't like about this as a precedent is that our government has its trembling finger over a keyboard with the power to cut off voters from being able to gather information, and buy or sell over the Internet (which really needs a competitor).
Right? America must go bankrupt fighting other peoples' wars! We must rend our clothes and give over our homes and daughters to the invading turd world masses that hate us.
Tass?
Whatever you think of Zelensky or any other world leader, this is taking advantage of Ukraine the nation and it’s people. They need their wealth to build up their own country when this war is over. This is wrong.
That’s a humorous take indeed. Almost a caricature of life.
This is negotiating with a dictator who has presided over the destruction of much of his country & the death of hundreds of thousand of it’s citizens to line his pockets & those of his cronies. These pressures are being applied in an attempt to avoid the deaths of thousands more and to allow the people of the Country to rebuild and try and reclaim democratic elections.
Mr. Z has to go, by any means... he has outlived any credibility he ever had. And people are dying in the mean time
Now do a whining rant on "compassionate conservatism" or "rules based order" for us.
I hate to break this to you, but there are no good guys in this situation. There are only bad guys and slightly worse guys.

We heard your cry in your first post. Go cry on DU and you'll get a hanky.
It’s one thing to say “we aren’t going to donate billions when we have priorities at home” it’s another to threaten to switch off starlink if they done hand over half their natural resources.
Nobody is obliged to give a beggar in the street their hard earned money but you don’t kick them while they’re down and steal their loose change.
