The Justice Department filed charges of judicial misconduct against Biden-appointed District Judge Ana C. Reyes for overt hostility toward the government in Thursday's hearing on President Trump's Executive Order barring transgender applicants from joining the military. Attorney General Pam Bondi's chief of staff accused Reyes of engaging in "hostile and egregious misconduct" during the hearing

The fact that Reyes is openly one of the alphabet people had nothing to do with it. Because that would not lead her to proclaim, without a whit of scientific evidence, that “This executive order is premised on an assertion that’s not biologically correct,” Reyes said. “There are anywhere near 30 intersex examples. Anyone who doesn’t have XX or XY chromosomes is not just male or female, they’re intersex.”

The letter alleges many incidents but focuses on two. In one, she demanded to know the religious views of the DOJ attorney, Jason Lynch. Then, this incredible exchange happened.

"What do you think Jesus would say," Reyes proceeded to ask, about an action that revokes a transgender person's access to homeless shelters?

"Do you think he’d say ‘sounds right to me’ or ‘WTF, let them in?'"

Interesting DOJ tactic—worth a try.

If it works I am in favor of it.

:-)

I assume that the judge will want to be the prosecutor and the jury too? It will be tidier that way.

love it!

judges try to tell president how to run the executive branch, means the president can tell judges how to run their courts!

The Justice Department filed charges of judicial misconduct against Biden-appointed District Judge Ana C. Reyes for overt hostility toward the government...

Wow, DOJ filing charges against a District Judge! Amazing. It's not the first time, but it is very rare. Grok 3 says "such cases are rare and typically involve serious misconduct." Will this case rise to the level of serious misconduct? Here are prior cases:

Samuel B. Kent (2009): A U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of Texas, Kent pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice in February 2009. The DOJ charged him after he made false statements to a Fifth Circuit investigative committee probing a judicial misconduct complaint. He was sentenced to 33 months in prison and resigned after impeachment proceedings began.

Shelley M. Richmond Joseph (2019): A Massachusetts District Court Judge (note: this is a state court judge, not a federal U.S. District Judge, but still a significant DOJ action), Joseph was indicted by the DOJ in April 2019 on conspiracy to obstruct justice and obstruction charges. The case arose from an incident where she allegedly helped an undocumented immigrant evade an ICE officer by allowing him to exit through a back door after a court hearing in 2018. Joseph pleaded not guilty and was never convicted. The case dragged on for years, drawing criticism as politically motivated, especially under the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown. Her defense argued judicial immunity and criticized the prosecution as an overreach into state court authority.

DOJ has occasionally targeted federal judges for corruption or ethical breaches. For instance, in the 1980s, Operation Greylord uncovered widespread corruption in Chicago’s Cook County courts, leading to federal charges against several state judges, though not federal district judges specifically. Federal judges, like U.S. District Judges, enjoy lifetime appointments and robust protections, making DOJ action against them exceptional—typically requiring clear evidence of criminal behavior beyond mere judicial misconduct, which is usually handled by impeachment or judicial councils.

These instances highlight that while the DOJ doesn’t frequently charge sitting judges, it has done so when evidence suggests blatant illegal acts, such as obstruction or abuse of power. The Kent case is a direct example involving a federal U.S. District Judge, while Joseph’s involves a state district judge under federal scrutiny. Such prosecutions are outliers due to judges’ constitutional protections and the high bar for proving criminal intent, but they’re not unprecedented.

Demrats always overstep eventually. Narcissists just can’t stop themselves because they always think they are the smartest, most important person in the room.

I think asking the DOJ attorney about his religious views is probably the most egregious thing she did here. Making the statements she did were out of line but asking him his religious views crossed a line.

If the executive can’t decide who can enter the military and what standards should be, who else will decide?
This is crazy.

I would think the CIC has every
right to pick a winning team.
If these miscreants are permitted
military rank and status, assign
them to the most menial jobs or
posts in service of their country.
Like PLO’s.
Permanent Latrine Orderlys.
Sh^t storm troopers.
With no possible paths to promotion,
and assign them their very own
barracks seperate from the real men
of our fighting forces.
