Enrique Tarrio, the former national chairman of the Proud Boys, was arrested by U.S. Capitol Police on Friday following a press conference with other Proud Boys members and Oath Keepers’ founder Stewart Rhodes.
A spokesperson for USCP said Tarrio was arrested for simple assault. A counter protester put a cell phone close to his face and he struck her phone and arm in response.
The counter protester said she wanted to file charges, so Tarrio was arrested.
The incident took place between the Capitol and Washington’s Union Station. Two counter protesters were seen filling out what appeared to be police reports.

Set-up. Fkin bass-turds.
I feel like the lesson here is.....
If you are going to be charged with assault - make it worth it and actually “assault” the person.
If knocking away a cell phone and a haymaker from left field are charged the same way, get your money’s worth.
The desired result for mad max’ “get in their face!” call out.
Tarrio is very easily provoked. Wasn’t he just released from jail, after being pardoned by Trump? He fell right into the Libs trap to get him in trouble once again.
“..if knocking away a cell phone and a haymaker from left field are charged the same way, get your money’s worth....”
Exactly...get one’s full money’s worth out of it.
IF ya gonna swing, might as well hit em good....reaaaalllll good.
TOO stupid to want him anywhere near MAGA.
Sounds like she violated his personal space. Should counter charge.
I think sticking your phone on my face and recording is assault and I should be able to bitch-slap you.
How would he know its not a beeper...
I would bet you’re right on that.
Bad advice.
His lawyer can beat this one. A busted nose, he can’t.
(How would he know its not a beeper...)
Or an Israeli exploding one at that!
agreed
Perhaps try and contain yourself and put a phone in her face. I probably would have done the same, I hate people in my space...hate it.
Sticking a cellphone or microphone into someone’s face without permission should be considered assault and victim justified in striking back.
Time to re-commit to The Creed:
I will not convict anyone of any crime, nor find them civilly liable, for taking out the trash.
Check out the language used by The Hill. You decide.
“They announced the legal actions outside the Capitol, which members of both groups stormed four years ago as Congress certified the election win of President Trump’s Democratic opponent in the 2020 presidential race, former President Biden.”
...
“Rhodes, founder of the right-wing militia group Oath Keepers,”
It sounds like there was blame to go around, though only one was arrested:
“a counter protester put a cell phone close to his face and he struck her phone and arm in response.
The counter protester said she wanted to file charges, so Tarrio was arrested.”
This sounds right to me:
“This is absolutely insane,” Proud Boy Joe Biggs told The Hill in a text, claiming local police let “agitators” into their path. “Tarrio did nothing wrong. This is a set-up.”
Now for some more attitude from The Hill:
“Since his return to power, Trump’s own retribution against the justice system has been swift.”
Counter Protester = Antifa
“Tarrio is very easily provoked. Wasn’t he just released from jail, after being pardoned by Trump? He fell right into the Libs trap to get him in trouble once again.”
My thought exactly, if you wish to NOT be in prison Tarrio, stay the hell out of DC.
