"I think that we [the federal government] should govern the District of Columbia... I think that we should run it strong, run it with law and order, make it absolutely flawless... We could save people from getting killed. They have a great police department there. Somehow, they're not utilized properly."
"I like the mayor, I get along great with the mayor, they're not doing the job - too much crime, too much graffiti, too many tents on the lawns, there's magnificent lawns and there's tents. It's a sad thing, homeless people all over the place. We've gotta take care of the homeless. But we can't have that in Washington, D.C. When they come in to see me - like Macron is coming, the Prime Minister of the UK is coming, all these people coming over to see me... you can't have tents all over your beautiful, once magnificent houses and lawns. You just can't do it."

Did they get a new mayor or something? From what I remember the last mayor, Muriel Bowser had or has a raging case of TDS.
Home rule gonna get DOGEd?. No right turn Muriel?
She’s the Black Witch of the Black Hole of DC Gulag, I believe.
Washington DC, now under New Management!
While you’re at it, get rid of the courts.
I might get digital shoes and rotten tomatoes for saying this, but don’t be too surprised if Donald Trump finds a place to use the organizing skills of Mitt Romney.
If Mitt is paired with a MAGA monitor/ co worker he may be able to help Trump reach those stated goals for Washington DC. Mitt is going to listen to the idea, because he wants to improve his legacy, and this may be his last chance.
Trump is good about giving people second chances. Just have a close associate keep a weather eye on Mr.Romney.
When has Trump ever said “I don’t get along with…some person”?
Whats he going to do? Replace her? This isn’t a monarchy. Not a dictatorship
He calls her to the Oval Office and says hey I have a big property in your town here. I have people coming here from all over the world. They can’t see the U.S. Capitol looking like this. This is a national security issue. They can’t see the government working in this dirty neglected town
What would you like to do about it
She’s not going to say, ‘nothing. Live with it. The voters want democrats in power.’ Because that is not true
Or
‘I’m going to continue sitting around grifting off the taxpayers like everyone in government’
Those days are over. Even if she’s the last to realize it
He will fix it
I went to DC in 2020 to see about moving there There was a job offer.
I was amazed at what a dump! The highways, the Beltway. Huhh. Litter. Broken chain link fences. That’s a long time ago. Must be very bad now
He is going to fix it
Not like Jackie getting new furniture or Nancy getting crap for spending a couple thousand for dishes but like a renovator of old hotels in NYC, which is what he does
Mitt Romney has really gotten old fast. That’s why he had to quit the senate. Poor health.
Lordy, I wish the guy would stay focused on helping the people who elected him and not chase every rabbit that jumps up in front of him. We need his talent on US issues, not fixing Gaza, DC, Greenland,etc.etc. You can say it is 3d chess and just confusing the Dems, but he’s also burning time and talent with the 2026 elections being just around the corner.
Mitt? No. He’s on a different list
Fastball tomato to your face! Never trust Mittens.
For more than 50 years, the District of Columbia has had limited power to govern itself.
Its residents don’t have a voting member in Congress and have long lobbied for statehood to gain that representation.
Now, some members of the Republican-led Congress are trying again to take away the district’s “home rule” status.
Legislation introduced last week by Republican Sen. Mike Lee of Utah and Rep. Andy Ogles of Tennessee would repeal the District of Columbia Home Rule Act.
The bill entitled, ‘’The Bringing Oversight to Washington and Safety to Every Resident (BOWSER) Act,’’ would take effect a year after passage. It is named after D.C.’s Mayor Muriel Bowser.
“Splatt!’...,Most would agree with you on Mitt.
Another poster says his health has declined anyway.
Being in the top tier of national politics tends to wear a man out quickly. Look at our old friend W ,bless his heart.

:) Just messin' wit'cha, brah. Sort of.
Gaza, Greenland, Taiwan....the world issues have to be faced, too.
I remember there was a popular online video game about a president ducking a pitched shoe. It was very popular.
Better than wack a mole!
Happy one month anniversary President Trump. 47 months to go.
Rudy Giuliani would be my choice to turn Washington D.C. around. He still has it in him.
