The former 'Daily Show' host discussed the controversial topic on his podcast "What Now? with Trevor Noah," suggesting segregation may have been for the best.
Trevor says he's taking all of the negative things out of the equation here -- racism, oppression, lack of opportunities -- and just looking at segregation and integration on the most basic, fundamental level.
He poses the question to Princeton professor Ruha Benjamin ... and she explains why integration wasn't the best thing for Black people in America.
Trevor says a lack of diversity can be a good thing ... throwing out Finland for example. He argues it's good to have everyone pulling in the same direction under a unified identity.

Segregation by values and beliefs: I'm on the fence about that. I'd rather hang out with people of another color who have my values, than hang out with people of the same color but way different values.
As far as the worldly values I don't believe in: no one should be happy with where those values have taken us over the past half century. (Makes me think that those folks should be separate from us with noble values.) But Jesus Himself commanded the Great Commission (which means us believers shouldn't cut ourselves off too much from the worldly people).
This clown, like so many other racist people, has lost sight of the basic fact that black Americans are in fact Americans.
GTFO!
He needs to just go home; leave & go back to RSA...right now!
So the democrats want to bring back their old policy of segregation?
And he’s neither; he’s a mulatto/mixed race from the REPUBLIC OF SOUTH AFRICA.
This puts him in the same box as Malcolm X, who believed that the races should be kept separate so that blacks would not be corrupted by white people.
You can’t relive history as such. But you can review and
make adjustments as is determined. Now who decides, who
pays, who fights tooth & nail not to change, etc. etc. 1492
began the invasion of this land by the Europeans. Today we
have continuing invasion of immigrants from different Nations.
We’ve built barries, set up locations for new comers to be
interviewed about entrances, etc. We have rules / regulations
but seems like they aren’t followed or applied. Come on in
we’ll hire you for the grunt work, feed you, educate your
children, provide health needs, etc. Enjoy your three score
and ten. Do the best for for your children as possible.
Integration doesn’t seem to be working out for white farmers in South Africa, which is where Noah is from.
“she explains why integration wasn’t the best thing for Black people in America.”
That may well be the case. And it likely wasn’t the best thing for White people in America either.
That, of course, doesn’t mean you have to hate another group. That would be wrong. But I think most (if not all) people are naturally more comfortable being around their own kind. That also doesn’t mean we might not have a natural affinity with an individual of another group. But generally, I think we are attracted to people of our own kind.
The article mentions Finland as an example. Japan might well be pointed to as another.
When he was just a comedian ( supposedly, he was actually funny, when he played clubs in RSA ) his audiences were MIXED...everyone went to see him there.
And that means *all* human beings...European,African,Asian...everyone.
It's *not* a coincidence that Japan,which is 98.5% homogeneous,is the safest,most stable,most serene major country on earth.
Truth comes out theu can have NYC, Chicago, LA, and Oakland
He must be a racist.
Or a black person.
These days black liberals are all about segregation in our colleges and universities.
As a side note, I find it strange that the “half-blacks” or light-skinned blacks seem to always have the most radical and neo-marxist views on race.
My senior year of high school in 1972 was the first year of forced integration. There were black kids in my school before that, but they were the children of engineers, a diplomat and they were popular and great guys. One was our valedictorian, and he earned it.
There were numerous riots, knifings, one girl who aspired to be a model had her face slashed. Never saw her again. I was knocked completely unconscious twice. It’s called the knockout game today. Nobody at the school would even talk to me about it. I’ve suffered several mysterious brain related problems as a result.
Academically, the black schools were two grades behind the white schools. They just crammed them into regular classes and the pace of learning came to a screeching halt. Segregation was wrong, but the cold turkey way the schools implemented the judge’s order was insane. The blacks were from an entirely different and more violent culture. Having spoken to a science teacher at the local high school, it’s a horrible environment. He told me a study they did says the students are afraid for their lives and just try to survive the day. You can’t learn under those circumstances.
That was the Nation Of Islam Malcolm X, he changed his views on the subject when he left them, which is why they had him killed.
Black people integrating with white people was just fine until LBJ.
“It’s *not* a coincidence that Japan,which is 98.5% homogeneous,is the safest,most stable,most serene major country on earth.”
You neglect to remember we had to Nuke them twice to stop
them from killing, raping, or enslaving every non-Japanese
they came across.
