SKAMANIA COUNTY, Wash. — A freeze on the hiring and onboarding of thousands of federal firefighters could have deadly consequences as the national wildfire response operates at a "diminished capacity," a federal firefighting captain told NBC News....

...but i never heard of a
usfs " captain " of firefighting.
so im thinking this is pure b.s.
bttt
Well, that may be a point if those jobs are frozen, but considering the dishonest reporting coming out these days.....
And besides, appeal it. Show the need and it very well could work.
so im thinking this is pure b.s.

If it’s Fake News from the MSM.... then yeah. it’s BS.
FUNNY—_THERE WAS LITTLE TO NO BITCHING WHEN CLINTON & HIS INTERIOR SECRETARY -—BRUCE BABBITT—(A 3rd generation rancher )PUT UP HUMONGOUS GATES ACROSS every entrance to Nat’s forests & then DUG huge hole right behind those gates so NO ONE could enter-—NOT even fire fighters.
Could ONLY use “HOTSHOTS” parachuting from the air.
I was working for a welding shop then & the gates he built were at least 4” pipe. TAHOE NAT’L FOREST
Another clue this is pure BS: it’s NBC.
“told NBC News...”
That is all I need to know about this article.
Why does a fire captain feel that its his job to give his opinion to the national news on a firefighting hiring freeze that is pure speculation? He needs to be fired.
Federal firefighters?
Yeah, BS.
While going to college in the late 1960’s, my summer job was fighting forest fires for the US Forest Service.
Over time the USFS made these fire fighting jobs a year around job.
All Trump has to do is go back 60 years and hire strong college dudes to work June through mid September.
And by the way, a large forest fire in the 1960’s was 25,000 acres.
While today we regularly have fires that are 250,000 acres.
This is what happens when part-time college workers become year around bureaucrats.
Not entirely accurate. There is a freeze of sorts, but that is while 5 federal firefighting agencies are consolidated. There are at least 5 agencies doing the same thing. It is believed the consolidation will trim bureaucracy and allow for more firefighters for less money.
It to consolidate.

Tell that to Newscum
Said Gavin’s Pirates.
From the news report-—
“”Hiring federal firefighters is a lengthy process because federal background checks are required,””
“”“This is the time of year where we’re training, we’re preparing, we’re getting the qualifications that we need to answer the call to service when the summer does come,” said McLane,””
1. Notice the bureaucracy is designed to create a lengthy process.
2. So the USFS spends the winter training. When I fought fires in the late 1960’s, our training was two weeks of strenuous physical training in the first two weeks of June. Healthy young guys, who are 19 years old, get physically tough in just a few days.
All federal lands, such as USFS as well as BLM, etc, are managed under a trust.
Take that trust management away from the feds and turn it over to the local counties.
The evironmental freaks have made the management political holding up every single managrment issue proposed.
As some know, per the sale of natural resources from USFS lands. 20 petcent of the proceeds from those sales are required to go to local schools.
Early 1990 or late 1980s, GHW Bush failed to protect ANY action against good forestry management. About that time, the USFS went from self sustaining to buget deficiency.
Over time the USFS made these fire fighting jobs a year around job......
And a lot are seasonal - after the Over time season is done, they go on unemployment until the next season.
Two seasons for the BLM and seven for the USFS, myself. I think the reporter just didn’t bother to find out the job title of whoever he talked to, and made up the “captain” thing. Anyway, it’s still months before most of the seasonal firefighting jobs begin, so this is a nothing story. Just NBC scare stuff.
