Boeing’s New Air Force One Faces Potential Delays Until 2029 or Later.
The National Pulse ^

Boeing’s work to develop the new Air Force One presidential aircraft could be delayed until 2029 or even much later. A senior White House official says Boeing’s ongoing supply chain challenges are causing production delays. The updated aircraft was originally slated for completion last year. The supply chain problems are, for the most part, caused by a number of manufacturers critical to component supply for the aircraft having ceased operations. Known as the VC-25B, the new Air Force One aircraft has already seen its delivery date postponed several times, being pushed to 2027, then 2028, and now 2029.

The Air Force One program is of significant national interest, as the aircraft is the primary mode of air transportation for the President of the United States. President Donald J. Trump has pushed for an expedited delivery schedule during his administration, urging faster program completion.

Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg has scheduled a meeting with Elon Musk, head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), to explore the possibility of accelerating the production timeline. Ortberg expressed the company’s commitment to meeting White House expectations, stating, “The President wants those planes sooner, so we’re working with Elon to see what we can do to pull up the schedule of those programs.”The discussion between Boeing and Musk aims to identify potential strategies for overcoming the current supply chain setbacks. Musk, the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, among other companies, has experience dealing with supply chain and component problems and may be able to help Boeing work out alternative solutions.

I haven’t paid any attention to their stock, but anyone who short-sold Boeing a couple years ago has got to be sitting pretty at this point.

Lets Musk figure it out. It would be cool if Air Force One could fly into space.

Delta has a CRJ900 in Toronto that needs a little work but is available for a very low price.

boeing has been sabotaged. I am convinced china paid/blackmailed fatass white traitors in the company to sabotage production and product and poison the culture with DEI. This is a national security issue, and people need to be punished for this.

By the time those new AF1 planes are completed and delivered, their technology will already be at least a decade out of date.

Ridiculous. Boeing wasn’t sabotaged. They were raped by the new generation of corporate raiders because their board is weak and stupid.

Billions worth of market valuation and backlog stolen from right under the nose of the investors. Now, nothing new in the pipeline and they’re struggling just to complete orders and support the existing fleet.

So sad, so much lost to greed. What an embarrassment.

All timed conveniently to coincide--climactically--with the launch of China's new Boeing competitor.

As an aside, your user name "red plum". Does it have anything to do with the Red Plum advertisements people get in the mail once a week? They were once called "advos". Then "red plum". Then "retail me not". Then "save".

At this point, Trump and Musk need to basically create a new aviation company out of thin air. Hire all the old white engineers that were forced out of other corporations, and build a competitor to Boeing and Airbus.

With Musk in charge it won’t take long to put a stake in the heart of the undead creature that is Boeing.

If they can’t finish one plane in a decade, what would be their wartime production rate?

Very strange!
they were remaking 2 - 747’s there were built for Russia in 2013

The planes were originally intended for the Russian airline Transaero, but the airline went bankrupt before they could be delivered

Yes, Boeing is converting two Boeing 747-8i aircraft to become the next Air Force One. The planes were originally intended for the Russian airline Transaero, but the airline went bankrupt before they could be delivered.
How the planes were acquired

The planes were stored at an airport in California.

The US Air Force selected them to replace its aging 747-200s.
Boeing was contracted to convert the planes to Air Force One specifications for a fixed price.

What the modifications entail

Installing advanced security and communication systems
Adding defense systems to protect the aircraft from threats
Making structural adaptations that go beyond commercial aircraft

Challenges with the project

The project has been delayed due to:
Unexpected costs
Technical complexities
Supply chain issues
High costs

The planes were originally intended for the Russian airline Transaero in 2013, but the airline went bankrupt in 2015.
Explanation

Transaero ordered the planes, which were Boeing 747-8s, in 2013.

Boeing started production on the planes, but Transaero never took ownership of them.
Boeing kept the planes and stored them at Southern California Logistics Airport.
The U.S. Air Force considered buying the planes and converting them into Air Force One.
The deal could save the Air Force millions of dollars.
However, there were concerns about the optics of using planes that were originally intended for Russia.

Transaero was Russia’s second-largest airline until it went bankrupt in 2015. The airline sold much of its fleet to Aeroflot, but left some aircraft unclaimed.

Their stock is doing nicely. Mostly recovered after getting whacked by the media induced hysteria. Up $45 a share from when they bottomed out last November, matching where they were in 2022.

Buy low, sell high.
