They’re catching up to the people that abused the PPP loans in 2020

They were sending out checks to people that never had a job for $5-10,000 !
I might know some morons who got these checks.
It’s 22 years in jail or, he can pay it back and just do
10 years, 5 with ‘good behavior’ but...it’s not going away.
You had all these telemarketers selling PPP loans. They should be prosecuted too...
There were plenty of rich folk who abused the PPP loans as well.
Looking at the names I’m not seeing a pattern. ba dum dum!
You are correct. There were some warning about this coming around.
I nominate Mr. Quintavious Ellerbee for the “Most Musical-sounding Name” Award.
There were plenty of rich folk who abused the PPP loans as well.

Businesses that did it the right way and processed the loans through banks that were filling them responsibly were still get a LOT of compensation.
The whole program was a complete dumpster fire!
They spent trillions to subsidize people not working.
That had a two-fold detriment.
Not only were trillions in taxes being wasted, but the productive side of the economy nearly ground to a halt.
If they would have just spent all the money needed to protect the elderly and medically vulnerable, it would have 3 benefits:
1) it wouldn’t have cost nearly as much
2) the economy would have kept running
3) the spread would have been allowed to propagate and fizzle out
Sounds like a character from an “Amos & Andy” skit.
Huh. That guy took the loan and bought a $10K watch.
Plenty of city workers in Chicago who were on the PPP gravy train. Hope they are “scrootened” as the bad Daley, former mayor Richard M. Daley once referred to it as.
I know a realtor who never suffered during covid and was just fine getting herself a forgivable loan.
Of course she was a rabid democrat.
That’s great now get the people who stole billions through USAID, US Treasury, etc.
Exactly. Get the big ones and publicize who they are far and wide.
These people were deluded by a culture of unrestricted welfare. I have no doubt a good many subsisted on fraud that has NEVER been enforced. Hence, this is borderline entrapment by habituation on the part of FedGov. Yes, there should be a penalty these people pay, but 20 years sounds to me to be excessive when I see murderers getting off after only 7. It would seem counterproductive economically too, as keeping people in prison ain't cheap and doesn't buy us much of anything.
The whole thing needs to be rethought.
I see it differently. I suspect these are egregious cases where the accused criminals went to great lengths to enrich themselves through illegal means that went way beyond the “I took a PPP loan even tough I didn’t need it” scenario.
Could be. I'm concerned about how these cases might be used politically. I don't doubt there are people within the DOJ who would happily gin up resentment within the black community. Trump could come off as both focused upon protecting the taxpayer while firmly redirecting the perps toward a productive life. That's his call and not mine, but it looks to me like he shouldn't leave this alone lest those 20-year sentences become a very costly urban legend.
I worked the whole time COVID was going on. There were people who did not work for 2 years who got more than I earned for doing nothing...
What could go wrong?????
Does that include the teachers in Chicago that went on vacations with that money?
Oh they spent plenty of money too people who never lost a day of work and suddenly they went from $45,000 per year to $90K!
Still working!
