Senator Richard Blumenthal condemned Hegseth’s message, calling it a "surrender & betrayal" of Ukraine. Blumenthal, who has made six visits to Ukraine during its fight against Russia, argued that the message amounted to abandoning Ukraine and undermining the security of European allies.

I’m afraid the end to this war cannot be resolved without Ukraine giving up BOTH the Donbas region and Crimea. Those will be Russia’s non-negotiables.
Putin isn’t going to face his own people and tell them that hundreds of thousands of Russian young men died for nothing. It ain’t gonna happen.

As to the Ukraine/Russia war, ask both sides if they want Trump to mediate. If either side says no, then step back. Don’t get involved one way or the other.
Then let the EU try to sort things out, on their dime.
