Senate Judiciary Committee advances Patel for FBI director
Roll Call ^ | 2/13/25

Posted on 02/13/2025 9:15:24 AM PST by CFW

The Senate Judiciary Committee approved the pick of President Donald Trump ally Kash Patel to lead the FBI on a party-line vote Thursday, setting up a final confirmation vote on the Senate floor as early as next week.

Patel, who served in the first Trump administration and had branded himself a crusader against the “Deep State” and Trump’s enemies in the media, would lead the federal law enforcement agency.

The committee voted 12-10 to advance Patel’s nomination to the Senate floor. Democrats remain powerless to block his confirmation without help from Republicans, who have a 53-seat majority.

Republicans at the committee meeting defended Patel’s record and approach to making changes at the agency, and downplayed Democratic criticism of Patel’s partisanship.

[snip]

Democrats have long criticized Patel as too partisan to lead the nation’s premier law enforcement agency. Ranking member Sen. Richard J. Durbin, D-Ill., said Patel is a partisan actor who does have an enemies list.

Yep. But, at least he has been voted out of committee. That was the delay I was worried about. A defector there would have been a disaster.

A full Senate vote may have been delayed until next week because JD Vance is out of the country. This confirmation is going to be the hardest of all to get confirmed and the VP’s vote may be needed. It is probably better to wait until he is available.

The high-pitched screeching against Kash by the Democrats in the committee was hilarious in its hypocrisy. Doomsaying about “weaponizing the agency.” High comedy.

This will be Trump’s MOST IMPACTFUL appointment.

The Dems know that.

And they are scared.

And they will be more scared after they lawyer up and find out was exactly what criminal culpability is hanging over their heads.

Durbin is a commie in a suit and tie. He says that Patel is a partisan and loyal to the President as if that is a bad thing.

For sure Kash is the biggest one for me. The rats know it and MSM knows it. I think once he’s in we are really going to see something.

They seem to hate Patel more than the others. That’s a good sign.

Nearly always (with a Republican President), a party-line vote.

Yet with the likes of Obama or Biden, it doesn’t matter how far out there the nominee is, Republicans go along to get along.

They just never learn.

The last ground-shaker nominee - Tulsi and RFK Jr were the others. Gaetz as well, but he dropped out before the confirmation process got underway. To my surprise, Thune got Tulsi and RFK Jr confirmed - hopefully he can deliver on Kash as well.
