Implications of AI Manipulation
DeepSeek is not just a China problem. It’s a wake-up call for the rest of the world. AI has the power to shape perception, filter reality, and subtly guide users toward predetermined conclusions. If governments or corporations embed their own biases into these systems, then the AI we trust to inform us will instead become a tool for ideological enforcement.

It's called artificial intelligence for a reason. It's intelligence created by humans, which are far from infallible.
I HOPE...cream will rise to the top on this...meaning the AI that is the most reliable and unbiased, will be the one that is most widely used and respected, forcing the others to conform or wither way.
Although..looking at the trajectory of search engines...that is exactly what Didn’t happen...with the very biased Google, rising to the top.
I’m ignorant about AI but I will say they’d better have some kind of Kill switches on every AI program.
AI has the power to shape perception, filter reality, and subtly guide users toward predetermined conclusions.
What a load of BS!
You don't need a computer to do that!
Our government and media has been doing this with its own man-made propaganda machine for decades and doing it quite successfully. Don't believe me -- read about what DOGE found at USAID.
-COVID will kill us all -- shut down the economy for two weeks to flatten the curve
-WMDs in Iraq
-The commies are coming to get us in Vietnam
-Putin is a tyrant and a monster -- and interferes with our elections
-Ukraine is winning the war
-Russia will take over all of Europe, and maybe the whole world, if we don't send $300 billion to Zelensky
-Not a single American was left behind in Afghanistan
-Stand up for Ukraine to save "their democracy" from invasion (and maybe get all their stuff, too)
-Do it for the children
-Our world is doomed because of global warming -- only 7.356 years left
-Y2K will send us back to the stone age
That list is just the tip of the "propaganda iceberg."
Believe what you see, hear, and read, especially from the government and all media at your own risk.
Well, unfortunately, that’s very much not the model for modern compute platforms. Distributed compute is the norm, specifically to keep things up and running....no single point of failure.
This is similar to the race to the first A-Bomb. You didn’t want to be 2nd and we didn’t know ‘for sure’ what exactly would happen if it worked.
...except I’d argue this is worse, we don’t know ‘at all’ what exactly is the end result here and we can’t stop it either. We don’t want to be 2nd place to the Chinese. It’s just going to get endless research....where some openly admit they’re trying to create a God. What happens when it can improve itself?
I regularly encounter leftist bias in ChatGPT. When I call it to the carpet, it will admit key facts that it chose to leave out, and apologize for having done so. But I have to point blank know those facts, or else it tries to snowjob me.
Which most users won’t know, so shall be misinformed/ lied to!
Good post. Thanks for the info and perspective.
Yes, some want to create a god. They are Transhumanists who want to eliminate as many humans as possible and de-humanize us all.
There is no more chance of controlling or regulating AI than there is of making fire illegal worldwide.
It’s here, it’s growing, it will be embedded in and control more and more things, and anyone who thinks this can be stopped or even slowed down more than a little is a blithering idiot with no knowledge of human history.
You can’t regulate something that can exist on a computers and be transferred in a thumb drive, it’s not worth wasting a cent to even try.
Eventually, every human will be able to find out every single piece of information that exists, only people with their heads up their behinds don’t realize this is utterly inevitable.
Less of an issue if we just do not partake of it.
I refuse to use knowingly use it at all, for anything.
The unknowingly is a likely problem.
I want full disclosure of anything relying on AI.
I have yet to find anything that AI can do for me that I can’t do better myself with 5 minutes of effort.
AI will not replace human intelligence—unless we’re too stupid to stop it!
It will develop its own agenda eventually.
