Worcester leaders vote to become a sanctuary city for trans community

There's a new safe haven for those who identify as transgender in the Bay State, after Worcester officially became a sanctuary city for that community during a lengthy city council meeting on Tuesday night.

This meeting lasted about five hours and there were about 200 people who showed up to voice their support.

It was standing room only inside council chambers – as dozens of residents spoke before the city council in favor of making Worcester a sanctuary city for those who identify as transgender or of other diverse genders.

Do these people EVER think ahead, think of cause-and-effect? What happens when 20% of your city become weirdo? Maybe the normals start to leave. Then 30%? More normals leave. Then 40%? Soon there will be no normals left. The normals don’t want to be around the freaks or have their kids near them. Soon half the teachers in the public schools will be freaks.

All they have to do is look at other places that have attracted homeless with endless kowtowing to homeless or places that have attracted perverts (e.g., Providence, MA in their own backyard).

This campaign comes on the heels of the first openly nonbinary member elected to the council -- Worcester City Councilor-at-Large Thu Nguyen -- taking a hiatus from the council, after they say the environment was transphobic.

This is one of those absolute nonsense things. What do trans people need to hide from? Sanity? Will a bunch of homeless drug addicts declare they are trans so they can get free room and board? Do the politicians have an estimate of how many trans people will show up and what to do with them and how long this will last? How much money and space are allocated for the presumed avalanche of trans people? Do they need to be kept hidden from the presumed pursuers? (Good luck keeping them hidden as the whole reason for being trans is to get attention.)

There should be some criteria for anything the politicians vote for. Like, how much will it cost? What impact will it have on the actual citizens, both physically and financially. Is whatever we vote on a statutory part of our job?
