WASHINGTON — Jordan’s King Abdullah II said he would take in 2,000 Palestinian children from Gaza who are very sick or suffering from cancer, signaling new openness to a plan by President Donald Trump to drive a deal that would resettle the residents of the war-torn strip.
Trump called the offer a “beautiful gesture” and said he believed “99%” that something could be worked out with Egypt, another regional partner that had bristled at the president's surprise plan. "We'll have some others helping," Trump added.
Seated with Trump in the Oval Office, King Abdullah said they must ensure a plan that satisfies all parties, a not insignificant obstacle as questions remain about how each country might move to relocate a swell of people who have suffered many months of devastation, and which some fear will further undermine efforts to create a Palestinian state.
More than one million Palestinians remain without homes, and King Abdullah declined to say whether he would be willing to take in refugees in larger numbers. "We have to look at the best interests of the United States, of the people in the region, especially to my people of Jordan," he said. Questioned further by reporters about Trump’s ideas, the king said he would refrain from saying much until Egypt had a chance to weigh in.
There are already over 2 million Palestinian refugees in Jordan, according to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees, which says that most of them have citizenship. Queen Rania and her family were Palestinian refugees who fled Kuwait.
Trump’s proposal to “own” the Gaza Strip and relocate its residents has stirred opposition from the U.S.’s Arab partners and from world leaders across the globe who largely favor a two-state solution.

Those who scoffed at Trump’s first draft of a plan exposed the knee-jerk negativity that characterizes much of humdrum conventional thinking. Trump thinks way out side of that box. Wait and see.
Now the Saudis need to step up to the plate with an alternative plan— if they have one. Put up or…
His “art of the deal” is multidimensional.
Very young children are the only ones who are not Hamas.
Unfortunately, Egypt has since "weighed in".
So, their opening position is still that Gazans must remain in Gaza. We'll see where we end up.
They don’t have much choice - they have no oil.
Call me cynical if you wish.
These are 2,000 very ill and terminal children.
How many will survive to become a future problem?
“Optics”, not a real answer.
They have beautiful seafront real estate begging for true development (NOT “redevelopment”).

Indeed. 2 years ago they called it an open air prison. Now it is turned to rubble and they demand the people should stay in that same open air prison only now with no housing, no running water, no sewers, no electricity etc. You cannot reconcile the logic - if you love the Palestinians you’d want them to have a better life.
The two state solution has been on the table since at least the 1937 British Peel Commission partition plan. Clinton did a full court press in the 1990s, Oslo accords were ratified, Israel brought Arafat out of exile and armed the PLO to govern the territories and after 7 years of negotiations Arafat refused to sign and started sending waves of suicide bombers to murder innocents in buses and cafes and discos. After Arafat died Hamas rose up, murdered or exiled all the former PLO leaders and rules with fear and violence, so now there are two different leaders of the Palestinians. They are not unified. They fight and murder each other when they aren’t fighting the Jews, and Israel has to step in from time to time to protect the PLO in Ramallah too.
I had been in favor of a two state solution but now I think it just may be dead. Or at least, accept it was a failure given the rhetoric and radicalism over the last many decades and take a breather from the idea while everyone works on some new ideas until another generation of Palestinians, raised in a better place without radicalization, and perhaps 15-20 years later many of the descendants can move back, buy condos, have a nice place that they won’t want to sacrifice in their stupid 100 years war.
Egypt is in a serious financial pinch. It has been selling off land to foreign governments. The UAE paid $24 billion to build a sovereign city in the Sinai. Egypt took $1 billion to renounce claims to a disputed Island. I don’t know what will happen but it is possible Egypt would like another $25 billion. Get some construction jobs for its 110 million citizens. What is another 500,000, who would likely live isolated and perhaps with limited ability to free travel in and out eg “checkpoints”. Prefab homes, trailer homes, plumbing and electricity etc can be put up pretty quickly to house 500,000 in Sinai, maybe 150,000 in Jordan, maybe 300,000 in Libya. These countries need money and have lots of unused land. Then a cooperative consortium of countries can rebuild Gaza. Probably a few 100,000 can stay in Gaza to work the reconstruction, other countries will own office towers, highrise condos, hotels, beach resorts, a port, perhaps an airport in the Sinai near Gaza etc. Make it something people will want to protect. I don’t know for sure, just spitballing ideas.
No, but Gaza has a little bit of oil (as does the Sinai) and Gaza has a huge natural gas field off the coast. Those can be exploited and it’s a shame the Palestinians never exploited it for themselves. Everything about how Gaza has been managed by Hamas has been bonkers and the UN and IC has just shoveled them money with no accountability.
Exactly what I was going to post. The ones that aren’t yet brainwashed, or might be unbrainwashable. Definitely not the “overthrow the government” types. Or the ones who would want to attack Israel from Jordan and cause problems.
Very small. But a start. Keep at it President Trump. You’re on a good path helping the fekestinian Moslem Arabs. return home to Egypt, Arabia, “Jordan” or to
other Moslem - controlled countries. While Indonesia bears no direct responsibility, it has been a steady supporter of the Fakestinian terrorist gangs that created this situation. And best of all, it has over 17000 (!) islands. But just one for the Fakestinian Muslims. . And then it will be easy to prevent them from attacking, murdering, maiming, raping, or terrorizing any good people anywhere in the world.
Jordan IS a PLO “PALEOstinian” state. If the king takes in too many PALEOstinians their blood brothers in Jordan might topple the King.
Why?
Well PALEOstinians need the POOR PALEOstinian refugee narrative to keep the conflict against Israel, alive. That is to say that the PALEOstinans do not want other PALEOstinians coming into THEIR country. Make sense? No.
Jordan is already doing a lot. I’m not sure how many people are aware of that.
The people of Gaza are predominately Muslim. When we faced Nazi and Japanese ideologies, we fought until we received their "unconditional surrender". Following their surrender, the Allies "governed" Germany and Japan for a long time. Also, Nazism and Militarism in Axis nations was outlawed.
If we want some semblance of peace in Gaza, I suggest that history teaches us that these things need to be done: Gaza military and terrorists be brought to unconditional surrender; Nuremberg type trials be held for terrorists; Islam declared a terrorist organization and its practice outlawed; Israeli occupation and governance of Gaza, which is part of the territory promised to Abraham.
That's where they were supposed to go to begin with!
trump lured him into a deer in the headlights situation. Reason why what he said at the televised meeting he later declared how he really felt on X his position on the relocating of the Palestinians hasn’t changed
Depending on when the Palis want their “start point” to be, Egypt occupies “Palestinian land” too. Are the Egyptians willing to admit that, and give up some land?
The Egyptian Press Release would seem to imply that Israel must give up the West Bank. That is simply not going to happen — For the Israelis it would be suicide. So, that’s a throwaway.
As for Gaza, nothing tried so far has worked. Repeating the past (or effectively so) is not an option. Any plan must include rock solid security for Israel, provided for by the states who insist upon a two-state solution.
Present your plan, guys.
