Executives at the Walt Disney Company are reportedly worried that soaring prices are alienating families from its theme parks, with internal surveys showing a decline in guests who are planning return visits to Walt Disney World and Disneyland.
The price of attending a Disney park has skyrocketed in recent years, with the typical price of a four-day stay inside the park rising by $1000 between 2019 and 2024, a new study conducted by The Wall Street Journal showed. The vast majority of that increase — nearly 80 percent — comes from new charges for services that were once free.
This has put a serious damper on fan enthusiasm. Internal surveys obtained by the Journal showed a decline in guests planning return visits to Walt Disney World in Orlando and Disneyland in Anaheim — a potentially disastrous trend for Disney whose theme parks have served as a reliable cash cow for decades.
Attendance at Disney’s U.S. parks rose a mere 1 percent in the last fiscal year, down from 6 percent from the year before.
At the same time, families are being forced to fork over money for add-on services, including premium pricing.

Hope those woke idiots go broke.
Rising costs are one thing.
Declining value is another thing.
Disney DEI Theme Parks go under
If only Disney could find a cheaper way of perverting our kids.
In other words, now that USAID funds are gone Disney has to make up a cover story for why they will suddenly have no money.
To get repeat customers, you need to charge a little less than the market will bear. But the idea that you’re leaving money on the table by doing this is an illusion. Disney relies on repeat customers, generation upon generation. Break the habit by overcharging, and revenues will be padded by price increases until visitors fall by more than price hikes can make up. Then profits will go down gradually at first, but degenerate into free fall.
Only idiots are still holding disney stock.
Its dead, Jim.
Years ago, we went to Disney World, I forbid my family from eating on grounds. The prices were astronomical back then
Staying on Disney (Florida) property, IMO, is insane. The times we went, we rented 4 bedroom houses with pools for LESS, and were never more than a 15 minute drive away.
I was never interested in Disney Land again after they would no longer allow me to shoot the indians at Fort Apache.
When I was a kid living on the East Coast, I was used to seeing tour packages to Disneyland - $200, $300 and up.
When I first moved to Los Angeles, early 1980s, I did a double take when I saw an advertisement at my office for a Disneyland discount ticket - $7.95. Then I realized, oh, yeah, it’s just 30 miles away.
When I went the first time, in 1986, I think I paid $14.00 a ticket, and maybe another $10 to park. The idea of spending thousands on an amusement park is nuts.
I went on the Kilimanjaro Safari ride and wasn’t allowed to shoot a single animal. They called it a safari!! Deceptive advertising.
My neighbors took their niece to disney orlando...
when they got back they said it should be called...
Disney HELL !!!
1985 was the last time I went to Disneyland.
Took my wife on our honeymoon. Not many of my Cali family could come to the wedding in Ark so we visited CA where I grew up in the 60s.
Disney theme parks are for wealthy foreigners and adult children. American families are no longer welcome.
That’s NOT what’s driving families away, tools!
Man, I miss those days. No gangs, no fights, no trash. People have degraded themselves since then and behave like dogs in the street. Dress like they don't give a damn.
We used to live in South Florida and went to Disney several times a year. We were Florida resident annual passholders and got deep discounts on the hotels, food, merch, etc. It was actually a pretty good deal...in the 80's and 90's.
The real plus to staying on Disney property is the convenience. When we had young children we could get to the park for early extended hours (which you got as a resort guest) and go back to the hotel for a swim and a nap after lunch. We would then go back into a park for the evening hours and they would have extended hours after the park closed for the rest.
