Pressley credited the CFPB with taking on scammers, capping bank overdraft fees, stopping medical debt from hurting Americans’ credit reports and going after banks for lending discrimination.
‘This is what we’re going to dismantle? What in the hell kind of government efficiency is that?’ the congresswoman asked.
She was not the only one who blasted the president and Musk at the rally.
‘The CFPB is the little agency that has fought for us, and we are here today to fight for the CFPB,’ shouted Senator Elizabeth Warren.
Democrats and activists held a rally outside the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) on Monday as they took aim at billionaire Elon Musk after workers at the watchdog agency became the latest federal employees told not to report for work.
Workers at the CFPB were informed over the weekend not to come into the offices through at least February 14, according to a memo.
Acting head Russell Vought also directed people at the agency to stop their work and stand down.
The rally held outside the headquarters in downtown Washington, DC was the latest gathered by Democrats and activists who have sounded the alarms over the Trump administration’s work to shrink the federal government and spending.
That effort is being carried out by Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) team.

The CFPB is Pocahontas’ pet project. She structured it so that the CFPB is funded by the Federal Reserve Bank. To make it invulnerable to Republicans cutting of its funding.
Looks like DOGE is penciling them out anyway.
