The Wall Street Journal reports that the consumer confidence that accompanied President Donald Trump’s entry into office has eroded.
The University of Michigan’s February report on consumer sentiment found that it fell by 5 percent, from 71.1 percent in January to 67.8 percent this month. Americans now expect inflation this year will be 4.3 percent, a 1 percent increase from last month. Morning Consult also found that consumer optimism is quickly fading.
Consumers are worried about volatile decisions around sweeping executive orders and potential tariffs.
Early polling data from Trump’s first days in office showed that the speed of the president’s executive orders concerned about half the country.
Among those feeling anxiety are the president’s own voters.
“I don’t like the turbulence,” Trump voter Paul Bisson told the WSJ. “I don’t like the chaos in the market.”
Bisson, 58, creates proposals for a flight safety company and co-owns a dog daycare in San Antonio, TX. Bisson says he wants to retire soon but worries Trump’s policies “will make the economy worse.”
He continued, “That’s not what we signed up for.”

There are a lot of people who just react, instead of trying to understand.
The only criticism I would have is that the communication of what is actually going on has been bad. This is the same criticism I had for Trump during the early days of COVID.
I hope they start doing a better job of describing what they are finding and how this will impact the average taxpayer. If they do an effective job—the establishment running the country will be destroyed and we can move on to a more effective government.

We just got Sec of Energy confirmed last week and Sec of Interior the week before that.
We should be on the lookout for some energy related EO’s this week or next to drill baby drill and open the spigots
