Los Angeles “Chief Recovery Officer” Steve Soboroff said Saturday night that he would work for free, after coming under fire for earning $500,000 for three months of work, even though his salary was to have been paid privately.
Earlier in the day, as Breitbart News reported, Ambassador Ric Grenell, who is representing President Donald Trump in overseeing the recovery effort from last month’s devastating fires, criticized Soboroff harshly for his salary.

I don't understand how this works at all. Who paid this guy, I thought he worked for the city, a city employee? Why would someone pay this salary privately? What's the point in that?

Problems in a bureaucracy are always addressed with more bureaucracy. They’ll decide that the solution is more inspections and more permitting. In China, the burgeoning bureaucracy inspired Mao to initiate the Cultural Revolution in the sixties, which resulted in 10 million deaths. That’s how socialists problem solve.

When it comes to government actions, there is no private paying of a salary to a person. All that is rewarding somebody, buying a favor for the future, putting money in the bank for the government leaders. I mean, there’s a reason for that one and has to be suspected because it’s coming from private funds.. can you say washing machine? sure you can boys and girls

My thoughts exactly. If someone else was paying his salary, he should not be considered a city employee.

I’m pretty sure that CA has its own version of USAID. I doubt he’s worried.

Exactly who was paying him needs to become public information. Was it some rich “do gooder”, or someone interested in turning the reconstruction to their own advantage? What was their angle?
To: ChicagoConservative27
Is he returning the 500,000 already paid to him ?
