For the past three weeks, Democrats have screamed about how an unelected multi-billionaire has gained access to the levers of federal spending, mainly to pull them to the OFF position. At first they claimed that Elon Musk had no authority to operate his DOGE project or access government information, until it turns out ... he did.

DOGE took over the U.S. Digital Service, a 300-person technology office President Barack Obama set up inside the Executive Office of the President in 2014 to fix his beleaguered HealthCare.gov. Bureaucrats had bungled the site, so USDS sought out Silicon Valley innovators, and was authorized to circumvent federal hiring procedures to get them. Hiring young people from the tech world and putting them together to work for Obama, unmoored from the stuffy rules of a typical government building, led to an environment of overt left-wing advocacy.

Make the mistake the first time, unfortunate. Make the mistake a second time, tenacious. Make the mistake the third time, indication of being a slow learner.
Right now Trump should be expanding the SC and getting rid of the filibuster because that’s what the Dems were threatening to do when they thought Joe was getting a second term.

Thanks for posting that article. Well written about the contortions a government agency goes through. It explained it in simple terms.
Sort of related. I used to do all sorts of projects at a government facility that did lots of environmental monitoring of the ocean. Used mostly for habitat, marine life, etc. I think it was when Trump was first elected I asked them if they were worried they would lose funding.
The manager said no - they just do the same studies (temperature, chemical levels, beach erosion, etc.) but gear them towards military or commercial uses.
Although I bet they will be looked at more closely this time. At a similar government facility they spent a lot of time and money putting in a small solar panel facility. All within site of an active nuclear power station! (I suppose it could have been some new solar technology that they were trying out, but still it was quite the contrasting image.)
Democrats gave us DOGE.

Great article. I bet Trump and Musk had this in mind from the moment Elon started hanging around with Trump. The Dims made this the perfect way (inadvertently) to implement DOGE. Who let the Dogs out? Obama and Biden! Ha!
USDS is the same agency that spent $147 million to start the IRS Free File system, to file ~130,000 tax returns with the IRS. Mostly used by the unions and the military.
Everyone wondered why this agency would be tasked with this problem.
After all, there are plenty of free file systems in the commercial world, and no one remembers a great hue and cry for a great bureaucracy to start handling our personal data, even with (supposedly) great privacy policies written into law.
Turns out, they needed a way around these privacy policies to establish a European style tax reporting system where the government just sends you a tax form, and you sign it and send it back. Would work for worker bees, not so much for business owners and investors.
And to make the IRS union bigger, and some hidden staffer more powerful.
Will be curious to see who is behind all that.
