US military deploys 300 troops to Guantanamo Bay to construct migrant facilities, provide security

Around 300 US military personnel have arrived at Naval Station Guantanamo Bay (GITMO) in southeast Cuba to assist in the construction of makeshift shelters intended to house illegal immigrants deported from the United States. The troops will then provide security for the migrant shelters, the New York Times reported. This comes as part of the Trump administration's mass deportation operations, where the president ordered the military to prepare the island for at least 30,000 deportations.

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth said that the thousands of migrants would be housed separately from the military prisoners detained on the base. He also suggested that a golf course on the island could potentially house at least 6,000 additional deported migrants.

Git Er Done boys. ICE had to release 400 illegals with ankle bracelets this week. No room was one of the reasons.

Sure hope we don’t cater to the illegals’ dietary demands.

They're saying "makeshift" so I'm picturing something more like Sheriff Joe's tent city in Phoenix. It doesn't have to be the Ritz.

Since Trump declared cartels to be terrorist, that will give ICE and DOJ options. Rubio can use the El Salvador pledge to send criminal deportees of any nationality to their mega maximum security prison. Those El Salvador prisons are “hell holes” compared to GITMO and US federal correction centers.

I wonder if ICE explained to some of the terrorists or drug cartel gang members that they were trying to decide where to ship them, but that if they turned on their fellow “terrorists” that they might not be sent to El Salvador. That could be a real motivation to help clean things up.

The optics of this are absolutely wonderful. Before, illegals knew they could come to the US and get put up in a hotel with Welfare and food stamps while they waited to get processed. Now they know they will be kicked out and if they aren’t kicked out immediately, they will spend their time in Guantanamo Bay. No one is going to want to do that.

Let them escape into Cuba. According to the communists in this country illegal immigrants are good for a country and we’d be doing Cuba a favor.

I just got home from the gym. Man, I hope they don’t deport that cute Latina with the 20 inch waist and spandex pants I see almost every day. That would be a tragedy.

Kind of a weird place to put ROSS and TJ Maxx stores so they’ll maintain their natural habitat

Hegseth was stationed there at one time. He knew this would work on an ASAP basis.

Hegseth was a good choice.

It’s better to keep the those who broke our laws of entry at Gitmo rather than Home Depot.
