Just days before Elon Musk began a purge at the U.S. Agency for International Develop (USAID), the foreign aid agency was warned in a stinging memo from its own internal watchdog that it had created serious "vulnerabilities" by doling out billions of tax dollars to overseas countries and groups without fulling vetting for terrorists and fraudsters or demanding transparency from recipients of America's largesse.
The memo, which was published by the Inspector General of the U.S. Agency for International Development in late January, details some long-standing concerns about how safeguards against misuse of funds and the proper authorities to hold violators accountable are missing from the Office of Inspector General’s toolbox.
This memorandum "identifies vulnerabilities and challenges which we believe hinder accountability and transparency within Agency programs,” Inspector General Paul Martin wrote to the acting administrator of the agency.
Fred Fleitz, a former Trump National Security Council official, told Just the News that a key concern of the administration is ensuring the money is being spent wisely and on causes benefitting U.S. interests.
“[USAID] has been incredibly politicized for leftist political goals by the Democrats. It's become a politicized boondoggle, and we saw that over the last 48–72 hours. We know that USAID officials were trying to subvert Trump's effort, or his order to freeze foreign aid for 90 days, so we can see what our tax dollars are being paid for, and is it in the interest of the United States? Is it America First?” Fleitz told the John Solomon Reports podcast on Monday.

And they did nothing about the memo, now they are covering their ass.
Vulnerabilities? Does Chris Murphy know about this?
created serious “vulnerabilities”?
How about waste, FRAUD, and abuse !

Right?
That’s how you know they need to be completely closed down.
They weren’t concerned with any consequences to anyone but themselves and their own vulnerability. Not the results of terrorism, to foreign state actors, or even to our own national security.
I can’t wait until DOGE gets into the Department of Education’s books.
It’s coming.
This memo was an attempt to get ahead of the fraud and provide cover, the IG is also corrupt which is hopefully why Trump has already fired many of them.
They literally NEVER turned down a single funding request, that is not a vulnerability that is FRAUD!
Oh, yeah. I'm a little curious about how much taxpayer money went into the Drag Queen Story Hour project, for starters. The one that was suddenly everywhere all at once? That wasn't cheap.
USAID threw open the rear door of the armored car and walked away shouting, “Help yourselves to all the cash you want !”
HOW ABOUT OUTRIGHT EMBEZZLING???
Absolutely agree, the IG must have observed this for years and was now in CYA mode. Too little too late.
Deflection time.
‘We didn’t know, didn’t get the memo’.
