A man trying to prove he could dodge a bullet died after his friend shot him in the chest.

His friend, Ashton Jonathon Mann, 24, is now facing charges of manslaughter, a second-degree felony; and possession, purchase, transfer, or ownership of dangerous weapons by a category 2 restricted person.

On Sunday, officers with the Unified Police Department received a call that a man had been shot in the chest, the affidavit states.

Officers arrived at the scene, located near 5269 South Charlotte Ave., and found a man lying unresponsive on the ground of a garage with a gunshot wound to his chest.

The man was transported to an area hospital where he ultimately died from his injuries.
