"When it comes to defense in the Arctic, Trump is right. What I think is very good is that the Prime Minister of Denmark immediately began negotiations with President Trump. Essentially, it was about the high relevance of defense in the far north."

Rutte is a major global player. Something not adding up.

Very nice, Trump has a lot to work with in these areas of Western security, NATO countries and defense, European trade, Russia, Ukraine, NATO’s growing awareness of the China threat, European energy needs, Trump’s willingness to use tariffs, and more.

Trump has a huge amount of negotiation cards to play in dealing to obtain Greenland.

Perhaps this is leading up to some special defense pact amongst arctic countries.

That seems most reasonable.

United States probably shouldn’t take Greenland; we don’t need to add two more Democrats to the Senate.

Legit as long as it is a voluntary exchange.

Advisable as long as it is in America’s best interests long term.

I don’t think Greenland would end up as a US state. Way more likely it would become a territory like Guam is today.

Guam has no Senate representation, and one non-voting delegate in the House.

Interesting.

Greenland has been seeking independence for a while now. Coming under the Umbrella of the USA would be a smart move.

My theory is that President Trump doesn't want to actually obtain Greenland and make it part of the United States. It's a negotiating ploy. I think the objective is, as you've stated, the establishment of of a defense pact, along with an agreement that provides us with access to Greenland's vast mineral deposits. The end game is to keep China out of Greenland.

It's called Thule Air Base. Established in 1940.

Can you say that about Manifest Destiny?

Here's what is going to happen in a decade or two.

The UK will become Islamist.

Other countries in Western Europe are in a bad shape. Germany, France, Sweden, Netherlands, Belgium. It's likely we'll see something like the Yugoslav Wars back in the '90s.

Russia and China will claim Greenland if we do nothing about it.

Denmark is not capable of defending it.

If Don Jr.’s trip to Greenland depicted the people accurately, I don’t think dems would be added to the Senate. Now Canada is another story.

NATO is trying to stay relevant.

They are looking up at a guillotine right now.

This. Plus, even if we take possession of, it would merely be a territory, not a state. No representation in Congress.

Greenland is not part of America’s continental manifest destiny. As God gave the whole land of Canaan to Israel, so God gave the coasts of America to our Founders and settlers.

So it'll become an American protectorate but on a piece of paper, we'll say that the land belongs to "Denmark".

If it makes them feel better, we'll do a "lease" instead. We'll do it for 99 years. After the lease expires, the land returns to Denmark.
