North Carolina’s former Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson (R) said he would terminate his lawsuit against CNN on Friday following its report released during his gubernatorial run last year about inflammatory comments he made on a pornographic website.
“The fact of the matter is this: the price we have paid in entering the political arena will never be recognized. There is no dollar amount high enough. While it has been the honor of a lifetime to serve the people of North Carolina, the continued political persecution of my family and loved ones is a cost I am unwilling to continue to bear,” Robinson wrote in a statement on social platform X.
“I give great thanks to Jesse Binnall and his team of investigators for their countless hours of work, dedication, and compassion. The investigation of CNN and their ‘sources’ yielded tremendous results and brought closure to our family during what has been an unimaginably dark situation.”

He was actually very good and a great success story until this all came out. Granted- they would never dig up these skeletons were he a rat.
i was hoping the case would clear his name
i believe it was a political smear
“There is no dollar amount high enough”. Weaseling right up to the end.
He WAS good as an outspoken aggressive conservative who wasn’t afraid to spit in the Democrats’ faces (figuratively, of course). What happened to that guy?
Donald Trump Access Hollywood tapeHappened to Trump too.
Yeah, I live in NC. Huge opportunity wasted. Now we have a Dumpstercrat governor.
Nothing new. Pat McCrory was a Republican Governor. A lone exception.
I know my screename pays homage to someone whose views many on the board now find objectionable but she was a huge inspiration to me as a young woman and I am not African-American.
But there seems to be some sort of (spiritual) enemy grip on Republican race relations even within the party that needs to be rectified. So my prayer is more gifted and called black, Latino, and minority Americans in general emerge from MAGA to take hold of leadership positions.
Yes, after being lectured 24/7 during the BJCinton sex scandals about how every one lies about sex, and one’s sex life has nothing to do with one’s ability to lead the country, blah blah blah ....except it is a non-demonkkkrap.
If / when this happened, he was probably a registered demonkkkrap. CNN goal was to take down Trump via Robinson ... keep NC black voters on the demonkkkrap plantation, make the purist GOPers and churchgoers abandon him. All worked aagainst Robinson ... but did not spread to taking down Trump.
Politics is an ugly, mean, business filled with some of the worst evil people you should never get near.
I liked her, too.

I live in NC. McCrory was, OK, not great. The RINOs in Charlotte did him in because he spearheaded the drive for toll roads around Charlotte, where he used to be mayor. Like the single issue nitwits here on FR, they decided to teach him a lesson. What they got was Dumpstercrat Roy Cooper, and now Josh Stein.
Republicans have large majorities in both legislative chambers here in NC. This is a Red state, and should be a lot Redder, but the Republican Party here is its own worst enemy.
McCrory wasn’t bad, but he got wasted for the “Bathroom Bill” by the Charlotte liberals.
Here is McCrory explaining how someone like Robinson got past the vetting one would normally assume the NC GOP would do on a statewide candidate.
President Trump is one of the few individuals that has the resources to go toe-to-toe with the government and the media.
Most folks wind up like General Flynn or Lt Governor Robinson.
You're right about the resources that he has on his disposal.
But he has charisma. He is a combination of Andrew Jackson and Thedore Roosevelt.
We don't tend to talk about politics. However, when we discuss things like deciding between traditional 401ks/IRAs vs Roth 401ks/IRAs, we have to talk about tax brackets. At that point every semester there's often someone who makes it about politics. That's when I hear who supports which tax policies, and often which candidates/parties. The married, working blacks tend to like Trump.
I never read a word about what he posted. Does anyone have even an inkling of what he said?
What a nasty comment, Chicago”Conservative”27.
It never made sense to me. Seemed like a political smear from the beginning.
I liked him. People change. I used to watch porn too.
I never read it either. But, I do not go to those websites.
We did lose an opportunity to get a Republican governor, though. Any non-controversial Republican could have won.
