Democratic candidate Doron Clark is projected to win a special election for a vacant Minnesota Senate seat, giving Democrats control of the upper chamber, according to Decision Desk HQ.
Clark, who works at health care technology company Medtronic, defeated Republican candidate and software engineer Abigail Wolters for Senate District 60. The district includes portions of northeastern Minneapolis.
The vacancy was prompted after former Minnesota Senate Majority Leader Kari Dziedzic (DFL) died of cancer last month, bringing partisan control of the state Senate to a 33-33 tie.
The Minnesota House is also experiencing a tie of 67-67 after a judge ruled that a Democratic candidate didn’t meet residency requirements for a seat he had won. Democrats were expected to have a 68-67 edge, but that development brought the state House back to a split.

Losers will never learn...
Bummer.
Watching RFK Jr. right now-just starting.
Happiness is having the time to watch this. Watching the democrats eat each other while we go rino hunting.
The bright side?
None of the names used in this article are Somali.
That seat was so reliably Leftist that the winner was decided in the Democrat primary.
There was no way the GOP stood a chance. The best we could have hoped for was winning 30% of the vote and yet, we didn’t even come close to that.
The Democrats had since the 2022 elections, a one-seat margin in the state senate. They only lost it temporarily for about two months following the death of one of their own.
Up here among the politically in the know, there was no suspense over this race. Everyone knew how it was gonna go.
Nobody sane would have expected a different outcome in this D+ THIRTY FIVE state Senate district in the heart of Minneapolis.

Already there has been talk of the western Minnesota counties breaking away and joining the Dakotas.
I really hate these articles that leave out major story points.
The Republicans were never going to win this election. It was perfunctory to be held. We have districts here in Maine where the same result would have happened.
ROSEVILLE, Minn. (FOX 9) - A special election for Minnesota Senate District 60 to fill a vacancy left after Sen. Kari Dziedzic died of cancer in December, has resulted in DFL candidate Doron Clark being chosen by district voters, and the majority in the chamber remaining in Democrat control.

The national Dem group that supports and promotes state legislative candidates send out daily emails asking for money and refences specific races that money is needed to turn the tide. Most of the special races going on right now are in districts where it is a forgone conclusion that either the republican or the democrat is going to win. Their money is not going to change anything. They are basically fundraising to pay their salaries.
This group spent millions to loose 54 legislative seats across the country. There are already 39 vacancies across the country. The dems have gained 3 seats in 2025 in these special elections.
Virginia State Senate District 10 is represented by Luther Cifers (R) with 58.7% of the vote. In 2023 John McGuire (R) won 91.2% of the vote (no democrat). So the dems actually made this one somewhat competitive.
