High-speed rail proponents who look forward to the bullet train connecting Southern California to Las Vegas may get sticker shock from the initial ticket prices.

Oh ya. High speed rail. Right after they put water in the hydrants
Twice the price of air travel.
Rancho Cucamonga....
Sounds like A Bob Hope Road Show.
There should be no high speed rail until they get their fire ravaged areas cleaned up and rebuilt. Who does Newscum think he is? Talking about this stupid railway when his ineptitude created a state that looks like a nuke hit it. He should forced to use the 3 billion to clean up California!
I wouldn’t want to be one of the first to go flying off the rails at 100mph.
If its anything like the cali high-speed......2090. 🚂
Been there many many times... Grew up around those parts. In fact worked in RC lots of times.
A tour of the line will be easy in a decade. Line will stretch from a run down station to a few feet past it. That’s all 3 billion will buy.
Airfare on regional AL’s or regular AL’s like Frontier are a lot cheaper. And faster.
‘Twas a government boondoggle from the very beginning.
“we’re on the road to Rancho Cucamonga..” :)
By the way, parking at the train station will be $300.
All aboard train 187 to Vegas. Lets hope on this trip the homeless encampments don't stack small boulders on the tracks again.
Rancho Cucamonga comprises three communities--Cucamonga, Etiwanda and Alta Loma. Cucamonga was a wide spot on Foothill Blvd. aka Route 66, and the other two communities were much smaller. Viticulture dominated the area, and vineyards stretched out for miles. There were several wineries in the area. But that was a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. The area is now highly urbanized.
I can drive from North Orange County to Las Vegas in 3 1/2 hours if I leave in the morning. I usually stop at Richie’s Diner or Emma Jean’s Hollandburger restaurant in Victorville for breakfast, although sometimes I stop at the Mad Greek in Baker. I last made the trek to Vegas in November to see President Trump give a stump speech.
I do not see much of a market for this. The average person cannot afford it.
Omg, less than 5% of traffic will even consider it at that price.
Fire?...dunno, has something to do with where choo choo go.
And if Vegas dries up?
Families are probably still going to drive there. People going to Vegas for fun don’t need a bullet train. There might have been some justification for a bullet train linking two cities which businessmen with expense acounts frequently travel between. Today, though, with zoom calls even that isn’t going to be profitable.
