The two-page memo, which is set to take effect on Tuesday night, could impact lower-income households that rely on Medicaid, school breakfast and lunch programs; and the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children.
President Donald Trump's Office of Management and Budget (OMB) on Monday ordered a massive freeze on all federal aid programs outside of Social Security, Medicare and other assistance that goes directly to individuals.
The two-page memo, which is set to take effect on Tuesday night, could impact lower-income households that rely on Medicaid, school breakfast and lunch programs; Section 8 rental assistance, and the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children, according to Roll Call.
The memo also noted that the OMB can grant exceptions to the order on a case-by-case basis.
"The use of Federal resources to advance Marxist equity, transgenderism, and green new deal social engineering policies is a waste of taxpayer dollars that does not improve the day-to-day lives of those we serve," the office wrote in the memo.
“Career and political appointees in the Executive Branch have a duty to align Federal spending and action with the will of the American people as expressed through Presidential priorities,” the memo continued. "This memorandum requires Federal agencies to identify and review all Federal financial assistance programs and supporting activities consistent with the President’s policies and requirements.”
The federal programs impacted will each be assigned a "senior political appointee to ensure Federal financial assistance conforms to Administrative priorities.” Reports from those individuals will be due Feb. 10.

How many cabinet ministries did Milei simply close?
¡Viva la libertad, carajo!

This is lovely.
It means that one person will be on the hot seat for any dirty actions. Talk about reigning it in.... I’m thinking he or she won’t want to lose their job because some underling wants to play games with Pres Trump.
"Sheeeit. Gibs me dat stuff, honky"
Bring on the Blue State Blues.
This is going to hit them hard.
I do hope we will see the return of the welfare-to-work program as a result of this...
One way that people can make up for this lost aid .....
Get a job.
I hope that doesn’t include HUDVash (which works alongside section 8).
The article talks out of two sides of its mouth. They are trying to scare people. Medicaid, WIC and food programs will be reviewed, not cut outright. Given the tough times, cutting these programs would be horrendous to some. The programs need major overhauling, though.
Some cannot.
Cutting back on freebies is on way to get self deportation moving.
I hope they stop sending social security checks to Mexico.
“The use of Federal resources to advance Marxist equity, transgenderism, and green new deal social engineering policies is a waste of taxpayer dollars that does not improve the day-to-day lives of those we serve,” the office wrote in the memo.”
I fail to see how that directive would mean an end to school lunch programs. More BS panic reporting.
“This memorandum requires Federal agencies to identify and review all Federal financial assistance programs and supporting activities consistent with the President’s policies and requirements.”
Would not the above be the norm for incoming administrations? Obviously federal programs should align with the administration they operate under. It does not mean children will be starved or poor families thrown out on the street.
The main subject of the memo is DEI and its related policies which Trump was very clear about ending. So if money budgeted for WIC is being used to send staff to seminars that teach how “White Privilege” denies nutritious food to minorities that program is done. But money budgeted to decide which products should be included in the program would still be available.
The overhauling should start with getting rid of useless higher ups in the offices.
This! They need to prevent any foreigner, legal or illegal, from raiding the treasury thanks to leftists attempts to Cloward-Piven America into destitution and bankruptcy.
If the government investigates, I'm sure they'll discover that states are padding their numbers by including the names of people insured by other plans.
Personal observations here...
In my state, if you don't sign up for a healthcare plan that meets the ACA's requirements, the state will charge you a penalty up to $2,000.
At the same time, the ACA law forces people onto Medicaid if their income is below a certain amount (even if they have money saved to pay for an insurance plan).
So, if you shop for a 'marketplace plan' and your income is very low, the 'marketplace' will TRY to force you onto Medicaid by offering you only two options: (1) Medicaid or (2) a full-priced plan.
If you are 55 or older, you'll want to avoid Medicaid, or the state will go after your estate to recoup those costs after you pass on. The state will put liens against your property and everything.
But, even if you find a way to avoid Medicaid by enrolling in an insurance plan THE SAME DAY on the 'marketplace,' your state Medicaid office will receive your name. And it will KEEP YOUR NAME on its roll.
You'll start receiving mailings from Medicaid telling you to submit documents. You will make repeated calls telling Medicaid to REMOVE YOUR NAME because you have insurance, but they will never remove your name.
It's happened to me twice, even though I told them both times: I have insurance. I did not sign up for Medicaid. I'm not using Medicaid. And I don't want any trouble. TAKE MY NAME OFF.
I've long believed the state has a policy of keeping all the names on the Medicaid roll to get more money from the federal government.
If the government ever finds that many 'Medicaid recipients' on the rolls are insured by other plans, I'll bet the state will throw all those people under the bus.
NOTE the sneaky phrase “outside of Social Security, Medicare and other assistance...”
