Vice President JD Vance “utterly embarrassed” CBS News’s Margaret Brennan during an interview where she attempted to press him on immigration, national security, and economic issues, Republican lawmakers and strategists said after the discussion went viral.
In an episode of Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan that aired Sunday, Vance expertly fired back at her claims that all the people who came into the U.S. as “refugees” under former President Joe Biden were properly “vetted”:

This time “it was just one instance” — yeah and if the plans were carried out and maybe he blows up a school?? ... well, it was only ONE school???

In retrospect, JD went easy on Waltz at the VP debate. He felt bad for that special needs Governor. Don’t say JD doesn’t have empathy for the less fortunate.

During the campaign I made a point to search for Vance on youtube. Especially his Q&A sessions with reporters after his speeches. Often they would last 1/2 hour.
He was polite, sometimes snarky, but ALWAYS answered the questions, and ALWAYS had a well-reasoned retort to even the stupidist “Gotcha” questions.
I recall one that went something like:
“Ah - I see you got the talking point memo like the rest of the media. Bill - you’re smart, come up with your own question next time. But I’ll answer about the illegals eating pets. Look - my office - I’m an Ohio Senator remember, has gotten calls from my constituents about it. We’re looking into it.
And even if it is just one incident, or people calling me about rumors - I don’t know. We’re looking into it. How come none of the media are going there to look into it? That’s your job too.
But even if it is just rumors - if that’s the sort of thing that gets folks to look into some of the problems illegals bring in to these small towns, I’ll take it.
Let me run some facts to you. Rental prices are up by .....”
[then Vance would run down the numbers related to prices, car accidents, thefts, insurance costs, etc.)
The media has a weird dynamic with this stuff. Biden never respected them. He avoided them. His answers were either mumbling or else they made no sense. Biden gave the press Nothing. And they loved him for it.
Trump and Vance? Long, eloquent answers. Actual answers. Real conversations with the press. Long press conferences. Ratings for outlets like CNN went through the roof in the first term. They gave the media exactly what the media needs. And they hate Trump and Vance for that.
Kind of weird.
J.D. doesn’t embarrass her, she embarrasses herself.

BRENNAN: No, and that was a very particular case, and it wasn't clear he was radicalized when he got here or...while he was living here...
VANCE: (cutting in) I don't really care, Margaret. I don't want that person in my country, and I think most Americans agree with me.
Wow. That was a definitive mic-drop at that end. And spot on, too.
Vance has what it takes. That was brilliantly done.

When he threw that look into the camera, the Walz debate was over.
“Embarresses” is not a strong enough word. If this had been a debate they would have had to pull her out feet first. Those were the kind of kill shots I always look for in real debates. This was devastating, and those clips are going EVERYWHERE right now.

Brennan is low hanging fruit for JD.
He got where he is by hard work and intelligence.
Brennan has a pretty face and a lifelong supply of kneepads!
