British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer’s plan to give away sovereign territory in the Indian Ocean which contains a strategically critical U.S. base is so “stupid” he must be on drugs to consider it, a Republican Senator says.
President Trump and the new U.S. Secretary of State (foreign affairs minister) Marco Rubio have been briefed on the Chagos Islands situation created by the British government, says U.S. Republican Senator from Louisiana John Kennedy — no relation to President John Kennedy — and that the dictates of the United Nations should be ignored.
Reminding others on the Senate floor (1hr 55m) of the importance of the British Indian Ocean Territory’s island of Diego Garcia, where a nominally Royal Air Force base is home to one of the most strategically important American bases outside of the U.S., the Senator said: “we use [Diego Garcia] to rearm and restock our submarines in the Indian Ocean to combat China. This kind of stupid takes a plan.”
Implying that Prime Minister Starmer must be on mind-altering substances to agree to the plan, Kennedy said — in comments highlighted by influential Westminster blog Guido Fawkes — that:
I’ve talked to President Trump about this, and I’ve talked to Marco Rubio about this, our esteemed new Secretary of State. And I’m hoping they are going to do something about it. The United Nations has no jurisdiction over the United Kingdom or us, America, and this is our military base… We need to stop this deal. President Trump and and Secretary Rubio need to pick up the phone and and call Prime Minister Starmer in the United Kingdom and say to to the Prime Minister: ‘Mr Prime Minister with all due respect stop dipping into your ketamine stash! Put down the bong.'

All u.n. input needs to be ignored. And defended.
Looks like two tier Keir is retaliating against Trump. Musk keeps on exposing his evil to the World.
If Britain doesn’t want it, we should annex it. Since Trump is in an annexing mood.
Wait until it's official, then we should annex it.
The UK as we know it, no longer exists.
In a few years, it'll be known as Londonistan.
Willingly surrendering strategic territory is stupid.
Paying someone to take it, is insane!
Especially when your country is a financial mess.
If the bases weren’t there nobody would live there.
How the hell does tiny Mauritius “own” the far away Diego Garcia? Retarded.
Trump won’t let this happen.
Britain will fall in line because they will be happy to say “the Bad Orange Man made us keep it”.
They get to keep the island and get the pleasure of bad mouthing Trump.
Because Starmer is woke.
Anyway, realistically if we don't take it, it's likely that China will end up taking Diego Garcia.
If not China, then maybe Russia.
Tell the “UN” if they want it, they are welconr to try and take it.
And, oh by the way, close down the “UN” building in NYC at the same time.
Just like they [the Chinese] moved in to the Bagram Air Base once Biteme and crew threw it away.
Just declare it US Territory by occupation. Then hire lawyers and let them argue about it. Gulf of America. Diego Garcia of America.
JUST IN: Britain will not recognize President Trump’s order renaming the “Gulf of Mexico” to the “Gulf of America.”

Such an act by UK PM would require parliamentary approval. US would also contractural rights by agreements with UK for lease of the base.
Easy to do. Especially with 63.2% of the seats in the Parliament held by the Labour Party.
Even weirder the act would require a majority of House of Commons and House of Lords. The king could even get involved. It’s a British overseas territory, but not a crown territory,
I hope Marco makes a big stink and force the Kingdom to make a wet fart.
Not DG, because the UK is about to hand Mauritius one of their "99 year leases" for the U.S. to stay on the island. But China is developing all the surrounding archipeligos, and will have a front row seat for what was one of our most secretive foreign bases. They will have close surveillance within easy drone range of everything we do there.
It’s incredibly embarrassing that a US president is doing more than our own PM to defend British sovereignty on the Chagos.
Mauritius was trying to get the UK to pay billions for the privilage of sovereignty being transfered to them, shafting British taxpayers who are already being hard pressed and with a shrinking tax base thanks to two tier and Rachel from Accounts.
If Trump compels him to cancel this deal then he is actually doing us a favour in thwarting this fabian socialist.
To be fair, the Tories were in power for nearly 15 years before Starmer.
