Volodymyr Zelensky has warned European leaders Donald Trump will ignore them if the continent doesn’t take better care of its own defences.
The Ukrainian president insisted the continent had to become more independent of Washington because there was no guarantee his American counterpart was committed to Nato.
“Will president Trump even notice Europe? Does he see Nato as necessary? And will he respect EU institutions?” Mr Zelensky asked in a speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
The wartime leader presented his scathing address as a wake-up call for European leaders, including in Britain and France, following Mr Trump’s inauguration on Monday.
Mr Zelensky argued that Europe had to do more to prove it could stand on its own feet and be a “strong global” player and “indispensable” on the world stage.
“Most of the world is now thinking: What is going to happen to our relationship with America, what will happen to alliances, to trade? How does President Trump want to end war?... But no one is asking these kind of questions about Europe,” he said.
“When we in Europe look at the US as our ally, it is clear they are an indispensable ally. In times of war, everyone worries will the US stay with them… But does anyone in the US worry that Europe might abandon them one day or might stop being their ally? The answer is no.”

I met a very nice (mostly) Russian woman (from UKRAINE BTW) about a month-and-a-half ago. She is from Odessa, IIRC.
She just wants the war to stop (taking lives). I agreed with her.
Zelensky’s days as the illegitimate puppet dictator of Ukraine are about to come to an inglorious end. His chief concern now is planning his exit strategy... not participating in the negotiating between President Trump and Putin. If Zelensky wants to get away with $Billions in ill-gotten gain he had better go along with whatever President Trump wants from him to make the kabuki theater look legitimate to the rest of the world.

The dirty little secret is the reason nobody in Europe is really very interested in large militaries. They actually face NO threats except the insane mass migration. The Russian military has hovered around 10% of the size it was during the Fulda Gap days and Russia wanted to sell them gas and import things the Euros make... that’s it.
Europe is only interested in the military to the extent they can sell arms internationally. That’s it....
In a sane world, Europe would be forbidden a military beyond a small constabulary force, a coast guard, and cargo/patrol planes.
No tanks, no arty, no fighters, no Navy, no attack helos, nothing.
I agree too and I’ve said it many times on here.

I wouldn't call Zelenskyy's latest pronouncement "lashing out" exactly. I only wonder who is feeding him his lines.
Zelinskyy is correct that Americans don’t worry about needing Europe. Our biggest threats are radical Islam, radical Dems, and radical Cartels.
