DHS guts cyber review board as Trump moves against ‘misuse of resources’

The Department of Homeland Security has dismissed the members of its advisory committees—including the Cyber Safety Review Board, which investigates major cybersecurity incidents—as part of a Trump-administration drive to cut costs at the agency, according to three people familiar with the matter.

An internal Jan. 20 memo from DHS Acting Secretary Benjamine Huffman said, “In alignment with the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) commitment to eliminating the misuse of resources and ensuring that DHS activities prioritize our national security, I am directing the termination of all current memberships on advisory committees within DHS, effective immediately...Future committee activities will be focused solely on advancing our critical mission to protect the homeland and support DHS's strategic priorities. To outgoing advisory board members, you are welcome to reapply, thank you for your service."

NPR first reported the memo.

The terminations will likely delay a CSRB investigation into the Salt Typhoon hacks, which involved a wide-ranging Chinese infiltration into U.S. and foreign telecom providers. The hackers also targeted the communications of high-profile political individuals, including people tied to President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance.

President Trump’s Department of Homeland Security just FIRED the entire advisory committee, citing “misuse of resources.”

Biden’s DHS funneled BILLIONS to facilitating illegal immigrants, so this move is much needed.

The deal?

They redirected the funding to the transfer of the Illegal Alien’s Invasion.

I've only had one encounter with DHS when I had my shop.

Received a nasty letter from DHS wanting the know why I was importing aircraft parts from Mexico.

*I was not. Gates Rubber was manufacturing the rubber sleeves in Colorado Springs that I used to make air suspension parts and then moved their manufacturing to Mexico along with the $100k tooling I paid for (and had never seen).

I sent the DHS all the import documents by USPS overnight with return signature required.

Everything was cool until six months later got another nasty letter from DHS wanting to know why I had not responded to their inquiry and accusation and the required documentation.

I sent another overnight (return signature required) letter with a copy of the first returned receipt and in business manner told them to find the sent documents and stick it up their ass.

Never heard from DHS again.

*Many thanks for the semester of Creative Business Writing I took as a elective.

This is a security issue and a transfer of financing issue.

DHS has been totally Rogue for 4 years.

Sorry. I do sympathize with your difficulty.

I have some unclaimed property with the State and I have the records, but they confused my father and I (same name, I’m Jr.) It was complicated that my father never had a credit card, a computer or an email account. So I took care of his meds and correspondence. To make it worse, I had a son who was the III. And he died about 9 years ago.

One day I did a search for my name and it came up with a statement on one of the genology sites “likely dead”.

Yes, Bureaucrap by computer.

They said by law, they were only required to keep documents for seven years.

*What happened to the microfiche?

I told them I know they do nothing that is not in a budget line, like destroying documents after seven years and they have not destroyed 120+ years of microfiche.

“Sir, seven years is a far as we will look”.

“NPR first reported the memo.”

Why is NPR still around?

Musk? Vivek?

Ground the low hanging fruit to start leading us to the sunny uplands....
